Welcome! So you're in Tampa, Florida. Hey - I lived in Tampa for about eight years - I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale and then moved to Tampa; I now reside in california. I miss Florida but I don't miss the spiders that proliferate in that state. I remember that I rented a cool house on 6 acres in Lutz - you know, that little town just north of Tampa. Anyway, after I got all my stuff moved in, these huge spiders revealed themselves - it turns out they considered the house their home, not mine; there were so many of 'em in there I had to move out. What a nightmare - those spiders were about as big as my hand including their leg span, and they would actually chase me! No kidding! The first morning after I moved in, I went into the kitchen and reached up into a cabinet above my head to remove a plate, and one of the suckers jumped onto my arm! Oooooooo! Well, that plate was history. Their pursuit continued from there .... that night when I returned from work, I was sitting in my bed reading, and all of a sudden I thought I saw something moving with my peripheral vision to the right .... I looked to the right, and a spider had come up over the edge of the bed; it re-oriented itself, then proceeded to haul ass across the bed at me! I am not kidding you! It was horrible! I jumped up and tried to hit it with a shoe, but it got away. There was no way I was gonna sleep in there without knowing where it was, so I went to the office to sleep and took my dog with me - he didn't even want to stay there! To make a long story short; I mean even longer; the tipping point was the next time I had the nerve to go back there, (after all, it was my home, I figured I should get used to them(?!)), I decided that one place they wouldn't come after me was the shower ... but nooooo! I was in the shower rinsing my hair off, and I saw one on the outside of the shower curtain .... it started to slowly crawl across the curtain towards the edge of the curtain .... it turned the corner and was now on the inside of the shower curtain, where I was ..... did you guess it? The nightmare on eight legs actually JUMPED towards me with the water going and everything!!! I almost killed myself getting out of there; I left with my dog and never went back. I left all my stuff there. I called the landlady the next day, and told her, "There are all kinds of HUGE spiders there - I can't stay there another night." She replied, "Oh, yes.....those.." Oh, yes, those????! SHE KNEW ABOUT THEM !! What a prize of a landlady. She returned my deposit. Well, then ... enough reminiscing about the sunshine state, no?!
