Beautifully shot by Cinematographer Steven Bernstein (Like Water, For Chocolate; Monster, etc.) it is shot completely on location in Rajasthan, India. There were no sets, just magnificent real places like the palace, which is breathtaking. They used candles and torches to light most of the film – very little electric light.
