Any body lived as a ski bumb. I want to have a canadian skiing experience. Im from Montreal, im planning to work as a tree planter all summer, make a few grand and then head to whistler by fall to find a place to live, this plan is flawed like i cant even think of an adjective to describe. Anyone have any stories or advice?

    Hmm...

First of all, tree-planting is the complete bitchwork of the forest industry. There are better paying and less intense jobs to get.

Secondly, most tree-planting jobs are filled by February AT THE ABSOLUTE LATEST. Without experience, apply by November to even be considered (and even then I'd give it a fifty percent chance of being hired).

The fact of the matter is, you'd be financially better off by going to Grand Praire or Fort Mac and working on the oil rigs until november. Tree-planting can be iffy on whether you make money or not - there is a fair amount of gear outlay (corks, rain gear), varying quality of contracts, varying skill levels, varying abilities to work hard in shit weather for 12 hours at a time, varying camp fees.

And lastly, it's BUMS. There is no second B.
