In your experience of downloading software via bit torrent - how much of it is infected with viruses, rootkits, etc?
Have you ever trusted downloading an entire operating system ?
Or do you think the chances are it will carry backdoor devices?

Don't ever download an entire operating system, it never works.

but i do scan often & keep all virus updates current

Actually a friend of mine just DL'd a student version of windows via torrent and like Stratovarius he was previously of the opinion most OS's dont work from torrent DL's. So he was really surprised when it did work. He ran all the antivirus - Anti root kits - packetsniffers, etc etc etc to test if it was altered in some way - he just cant find anything wrong and it works perfect in every sense.

still it pays to be careful

i have been using bittorent for many years basicly when it came out. bittornado actualy. I have never got a virus from bittorent at all i use torrentspy.com if i want to download a torrent, but there is a more fast, and effective way to pirate. Use mIRC to download files such as movies, songs, and programs. In order to get hacked on bittorent the tracker must have some sort of remote script exicution exploit.

i only download oses from closed torrent sites. where no bs can be put, would never trust a os from a public source.

Red hat - fedora. As you know, there is no need to steal it. It is free.
