    hi,
i found a blurb in Life Magazine (it comes with my local sunday newspaper) about crafting for people in need, and i instantly thought of cerridwen.
actually, the article is about a book called "Knitting for Peace" by Betty Christiansen that "compliles groups that use knitted goods for the greater good."

here it is at half.com: http://product.half.ebay.com/Knitting-for-Peace_W0QQtgZinfoQQprZ51697244

and here are the examples cited in the mag:

    FOR SOLDIERS: www.theshipsproject.com/Home.htm
"Christiansen says that slippers are most in demand, along with hats that can fit under helmets."

    FOR THE HOMELESS: www.warmupamerica.org
"Using yarn remnants at the bottom of your bag, knit 7x7 rectangles, then send them in to be stitched into afghans for those who have lost their homes"

    FOR PREMATURE BABIES: www.carewear.org
"preemies in neonatal units need tiny mittens, booties and hats."

    FOR TROUBLED TEENS: www.binkypatrol.org
"every kid deserves a security blanket, be it a binky or a bedcover."

Unfortunatley, i don't knit, so i hope i've done my part here.
    peace.
    LP

Melonhead, thanks so much for these links, absolutely fantastic :) Thanks for thinking of not only me, but more importantly posting it here for everyone to read :) I'm thinking of doing some charity knits in the new year, I always have leftover yarn after my December-holiday knitting, I will most definately contribute to these! :) I'm sure others will find it just as useful!
