Who cares you shouldnt have to explain why you eat meat to anyone, and someone who probably gets all defensive when someone asks her why she doesn't eat meat, is someone who is trying to preach others on why not to eat chicken...very hypocritical...
So, are you saying we should eat bugs instead of chickens? Bugs are small too, talk to the "people starving in the forests" about killing THOSE tiny creatures! I'll never feel bad for eating a chicken. And no I don't feel bad for killing one, because a) I didn't kill it, and b) if you've ever seen a pultry farm, you'd WANT the chickens to die, and be put out of their misery. (I'll probably be seen as some sort of back-woods, freaky-nasty hick-pig, but I assure you I'm not. I just like my meat, and chickens are ugly anyway. )
I don't think the chicken had much to live for. They are not wild animals, they were bred to eat. They don't even know enough sit on their eggs, so that = no chance for survival as a species.
I agree that eating chicken is pathetic. Not because its an animal, but because it has absolutely no taste. Chicken takes on the taste of whatever it is cooked with, or however it is cooked, hence how everything "tastes like chicken". Hence, I think people like chicken, not because of the taste, but because of the texture.
I completely agree with you. not because I eat meat because I am veggie too, I also think its so important that i don't force my ethical values on others, i would never dream of telling someone else what they can and can't eat. threads like this give all vegans and veggies a really bad name, if we want to be taken seriously by people its about time people realised that they shouldn't force their views on others. S
I was about to say something, but Samhain said it for me. I'm a vegetarian, but I am also a firm believer in the value of free will and making your own decisions.
Alright, I try to avoid these things, but A. Chicken is delicious B. Chickens are horrible little animals who attacked me when I was two, even if they weren't delicious I would eat them anyway. C. Backed skim chicken is one of the healthiest things a person can eat. I've heard people in the veggi forums complain about how meat eaters get all defensive when they talk about it. Maybe its not talking about it that makes people angry, its the tone of calling people pathetic barbarians. You should try a rational approach of offering vegetarian alternative rather then to resort to callous propaganda and comparing the plight of chickens to the hollocaust. I dont feel bad at all that a chicken or a fish had to die for my meal, I've been fishing before, and I wouldn't lose any sleep over a killing a chicken either. Dont expect to make many friends to take this into random thoughts and call people pathetic. Stay in the veggie forums with your mindless zionism.
So, it's pathetic to eat something if one likes the texture? Jell-O, anyone?! (Please don't prod me with pig hoof//gelatin information. I've heard it all. I just like jell-o, and I'm sure many others here do, too). also, VERY well said, Lodui! ^_^
poeple that eat meat should not be yelld at and scolded for there lifestyle but be provided with info about the veggie world
Hold your horses sweety I know a lot of vegetarians are very preachy or went through some sort of preachy phase.. but there are a lot or 'normal' ones as well. I've been a vegetarian for several years now and I was pretty bad with the 'you murderer!' stuff in the beginning, but I'm very relaxed now. I think the thing that bothers me most are the hypocritical things (like someone freaking over seeing 'those poor piggies going to the slaughterhouse' and eating meat the same evening), but from your post I figure you're not like that. So.. I hope you take it from me that there are also vegetarians who are perfectly fine minding their own business and respecting the choices of others. I hope you can be openminded enough as well to respect the choice of some people to become vegetarians...
I have lots of veggie friends, haha, we joke about it all the time. They call me a murderer and I call them hippies. I dont have any problem with vegetarians baby, I just don't want to be called a barbarian. I mean I probably am, but thats not kosher.
You know.. as long as you're able to kill an animal yourself I don't have any problems with it.. kinda strange huh? I saw this documentary the other day where an african tribe fellow hunted down a very large deer on his own and killed it with his spear.. after that he performed some kind of ritual to honour the animal for it's courage and thanking it for providing food for his family. I was brought to tears with that.. if just all mankind would treat animals with that respect and only take what they need... I just really dislike whimpy meat-eaters I guess.. people who don't want to know what's in their food because it's supposed to be 'gross' or 'sad' when it's from an animal. Be a man damnit! the whole link between man and animal has been stretched too far.. you see a cute piggie.. you eat pork.. you pet a cute calf.. you eat veil.. you know what I mean? What's wrong with the whole process? Give the animals the life every living being deserves and than kill it quick and painless.. I know it's not realistic for everyone to do it themselves.. as long as you realise that you are capable or doing so.. .. ok.. I'll get off my soapbox now You know what I mean.. right?
I have 30 chickens......no, wait, I cut the head off of one last night and fed my children. Throw in some home grown veggies and you have one pathetic meal....all from my land. Pathetic chicken eaters we are.
i don't eat chicken or many other meats, but that's my choice. i dont force people to look at what they are eating but that's their own thing. it just depends on what you were brought up with, because we all need protein in our diets. i say eat what you want, just that i don't do the same, just because i don't enjoy it, but if you think about it, what do chickens, turkeys, etc. live for? sure they don't have cars, jobs, etc. but what else do they live for? it's just tradition or technique that they are rise to be fed, just like you are grown up to live and make money for your family. in a sense it's a same but i'm just rambling on here. eat whatever you enjoy is basically what i am saying.
I eat chickens just for spite. I hate the little buggers. Would you rather I start eating vegetarians, because that can be arranged.
The only thing I wonder about is what effect humans are having on the evolution of these creatures... I mean, are we stopping them from evolving by "raising" them in this certain way that is totally different from a real, free life? I don't know... this is definitely a random thought, but I think it's interesting. What is a species had "raised" humans at one time in history... would we be where we are today? Are we fucking with nature? But anyway, I eat chicken... all the time. I can't help it... all the other kids are doing it. It's the cool thing to do. You aint cool if you don't eat the chicken!
chickens are evil. therefore they must be exterminated. and since we're doing the right thing by killing the mean nasty bastards, we may as well not let them go to waste.
