Okay, I've recommended this several times before, but it's always been buried in other threads and gets lost or ignored... So I thought I'd give it it's own thread and maybe it'll get used! When I make this rinse, I usually do it in 1 gallon batches. The yield is freaking huge and from there you can pretty well split it up and give a bottle to ever dreadie you know. To start with, boil 1 cup water, and steep rosemary and stinging nettle until it's a nice and dark tea. Transfer/funnel this hot, strained tea into a large jug or bottle to finish the concoction in. (Actually, I usually start with a little over 1 cup, since some boils out while it steeps) While the tea is still hot, add some vitamin E oil (I usually just break a few capsules into it). Then add 1 cup of your favorite apple cider vinegar, and some tea tree oil. Fill the jug up the rest of the way with warm water, and shake it real well. I always transfer the rinse at this point into smaller bottles to keep in the shower. If it smells too strong to you still, you can only partially fill a bottle and dilute it with even more water until you're satisfied. I usually use a heavily diluted version of this about once a week, whenever I wash my hair. I makes an excellent conditioner and scalp treatment. I only use the full-strength version a couple times a year, for deep cleaning. It's never seemed to smell much. Usually the vinegar smell goes away almost entirely once it dries. It might just smell when you get it wet again in the shower. I hope you all find some use in this! I'm very very sick today, so I will be passing out now!
does sound like a nice lil concoction but forgive my ignorance but whats acv? about how longs it take to make this stuff? it sure doessound like it would be really nice..&lots cheaper then what iuse now
ACV is just how I abbreviate Apple Cider Vinegar. In my haze today I must just be lazy... Depending on the state of the herbs you steep, it's really really quick. Basically just takes a couple minutes on top of the time to steep the tea. I forgot to mention also, that you can use more tea as a base if you want it a little stronger. Rosemary and stinging nettle are both really good for your hair and scalp, promoting health and stmulating growth. In fact, stinging nettle is often an ingredient in various "baldness cures". Enjoy!
Actually, I haven't had any in ages (I've just been using fresh rosemary from a friend's garden, since I never get out anymore), but I've bought it online before... lemme see if I can find the site... no I can't seem to find the place I've bought it before, but here's another: http://www.herbsetc.com/Shopping/n/nettle_stinging.htm ^That seems a little pricier than I remember it being though. The best thing to try is if you have a local herb shop, or a health food store with a good selection of loose herbs. If you can't find it, it's not the end of the world. Just skip it and use the rosemary alone!
