I'm currently on Microgynol 30 and just about to finish my first pack. I knew that taking hormones would definitely have an effect on me, and so far it hasn't been that bad. I don't get moody, but i just seem to feel rather weird, like i'm not myself. My sex drive is almost non-existent and i'm afraid that will affect my relationship with my boyfriend. I have told him about this and he's very understanding but i'm just afraid he'll get tired of this and perhaps this will lead to unecessary arguments and things like that. I noticed that it tales me a bit of effort to get aroused and also, i seem to be drier than usual. I'm also feeling more tired and less energetic. I don't know if this is all due to this pill. I'm thinking of changing it to other kinds, such as mercilon, but will it still mess up by body the way these ones are? I'd like to hear other women's experiences whilst being on the pill, whether it has affected your sex life and your ability to do things and if it's only temporary or you have had to change to another kind of pill. Thanks very much in advance!
you should give it a little more time because i've noticed when i first start on the pill or a different kind of the pill my system goes nuts. i've had to go through a ton of different kinds of pills, certain kinds gave me pimples made me gain weight made me moody depressed, etc...
do you just gotta find which pill is right for you? im starting it soon...but i dont want to gain weight or get pimpies. some kinds make you lose.gain.breakout,clear up...i guess its all about trial and error?
If this pill doesn't work after the next pack or so, I suggest you try a low-hormone pill, like Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.
If you're in a monogamous relationship, and just need the B.C. for pregnancy protection, look into the Fertility Awareness Method. A great book is "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It's so much easier to not worry about the side-effects of pills and hormones on my body.
Like someone else already said, you should give it some more time. The side effects are usually worst during the first few months and then they should go away. If they don't, then you should definitely try other kinds. It took me forever to find a pill that suits me but finally I did. I'm on Diane Nova now and I'm loving it, no side effects at all.
it can often take longer than a month to get everything regulated back to normal, give it some time. If you're still not happy with the pill after a couple of months, change it or stop taking it.
You beat me to it again HippyFreek! I second TCOYF, why put unknown ingredients into your body just avoid pregnancy (assuming that's why you're using it) when KNOWING how your body works is so much more healthier and natural
here's what I suggest you do. Read the package insert and patient info sheets that came with your pills. If you don't have them, ask the pharmacist for them. It's required by law that you are fully informed before consenting to any medical treatment. Consider yourself lucky that's all the side effects you are having (so far) some of us have much worse reactions to hormone meds. Don't count on the side effects ever lessening, and *do* remember that any hormone pills will potentially cause a similar, if not worse, reaction. Find out exactly what the ingredients are, and how much of each is in the pills. Switching brands might just mean you are taking the exact same pill, packaged in a blue compact instead of a yellow one (or whatever). The longer you are on hormonal bcp, the longer it takes for them to get out of your system. So if you are having problems now, seriously reconsider taking any other hormone medications. What might make a difference, is the type of estrogen and progesterone in the pills. Some pills are made of synthetic hormones, and others are what is called "natural" hormones, which only means that the chemical composition more closely resembles the molecules in the hormones produced by our bodies. Many women have major problems with certain synthetic progestins and estradiol. If the ingredients (listed on that package insert sheet I advised you to read) says those words, instead of "estrogen" and "progesterone" then you are taking a pill with a higher incidence of unwanted side effects.
I loved Ortho Tri-Cyclen....but, I also got pregnant while on it, so I lost faith in its pregnancy protection.
i've only started my second pack on monday and i'm going crazy again....i get so irritable for no reason...i hate being like this..
im content with mine. it seems to be doing me wonders. i have very little pms now and less mood swings and eat less and less of a flow. have you ever considerd swiching your kind?
What exactly is this book? Does it's method work as birth control? I'm very into natural and organic things, cosmetics, food, etc. The only thing that has been sitting there on the other end of the spectrum is the whole pill thing. I don't want kids so I keep taking them. I have often thought of getting a fertility test just to make sure that I am indeed fertil, cause if I'm not, I don't want to be taking pills.
Fertility Awareness Method works as a birth control, as a pregnancy-achieving aid, and also helps you to diagnose any problems you might be having. Mostly, it is charting your morning temperature and your cervical fluid. No things to buy, no pills to take, just learning how to learn yourself.
yes, i'm actually thinking about going to this other clinic where i'll have my smear check up done and talk to the nurse about changing my pill. I've looked up other kinds like Mercilon, which apparently has less side effects, providing the same protection. The thing is i have to finish this pack and the i'll be able to change it. I just hope i don't mess up but body with so many hormones, i hate being on the pill because it makes me feel so unnatural, but then my periods aren't regular and i suffer from pms. microgynon 30 regulates my period and makes me feel less bloated, but then i find it difficult to deal with the side effects. I don't want to become psycho bitch!!
