sometimes i blow dry my hair, like if its cold outside or im in a rush and cant have dripping hair. Otherwise i usually just dry them a little with a towel, then air dry them. i think it feels so good when i go stand in my backyard (and since i live on a lake theres always a breeze) and the wind breezes through my wet dreadies and helps dry em out a lil. so i guess you could say i use nature to dry my hair haha
never had any issies with mildew in fact mine takes over 24 hours to dry..and also i have a condition that makes me unable to adjust my body temp when its hot out & with this much hair when the temp gets over 80 or so i end up havin to dump water over my head all day to keep from getting heatstroke so durrin summer months mines damp quite alot but nevrer get mildew or anything shampoos like knotty boy or dr bronners tea tree i think will kill any mildew that did develop
Soaring that does seem reasonable... I mean reidoo free I think would kill shit out... Lets hope it does... BTW how long are your locks? And how old?
i've blown dry before..but like..when i wash em, i just wrap a dry towel around me head for about 20 minutes..(a towel that, ya know, isn't all frizzy or that leaves junk in yer hair^^)...and it works real good, for me that is^^. and when i'm done, and take off the towel, they're all dry and bouncy^^..lololol...-shrug- works for me
I think i would blow dry mine every once in a while if i had a blow dryer...I just never bought one. this little fact is not about dreads in particular but about blow drying hair and might help people keep their locks if they ever get lice. If you get head lice, you can blow dry your hair for 7 days in a row on high setting to get rid of it with out any chemicals or anything. I though it might be useful to someone with dreadlocks someday.
I used to blow dry my hair wrap, mainly because it would still be super wet once the rest of my hair was dry, but since i took it out a few weeks ago, no need to blow dry it anymore. it would be kindof silly if i did since its not showering weekly anymore
i just wrap mine in a towel and then twist so as to squeeze water out. after leaving the towel on for about 10 minutes, my dreads take about 10 more minutes to fully dry. btw, SoaringEagle, i love you, man
wow only 10 minutes to fully dry!! or do you just mean to the point that they arn't dripping everywhere?
like, i have them in a towel for about 10 minutes and they stop dripping. then 10-15 minutes later, they all dry all the way through pretty much. kinda cool.
