Just wondering if any of you ladies have read the book '****' (I wish I could remember the author, I'll check when I get home) and your thoughts on it. I read it last year, and found it to be a very powerful read. I didn't agree with everything she said, though I found most to be very intriguing and thought provoking. I've been looking to discuss the book with fellow women, but haven't come across anyone else who's read it. If you haven't read it, I suggest you pick it up.
I read it a few years back. It was enjoyable but some of the views in the book were a good deal more extreme than my own. I found the mental induced miscarriage thing rather interesting. Think the book is still kicking about here somewhere.
I didn't understand how she could be so against the Pill, yet have gone through three abortions! It doesn't make sense to me. A little prevention can go a long way.
No it's not. The name you mentioned was not farmiliar sounding to me in the least. So I checked it out.The author's name Inga Muscio.
I read it a few years back, and it was good. I also thought some of her views and opinions were a bit extreme, but some i agreed with. My brother calls me a feminazi for owning the book. ha. So I emailed Inga Muscio and she sent my brother an autographed copy to him and all his co workers for making fun of me. Of course I kept the auto graphed copy and gave my brother the blank one. haha, good times. Alicia
To some people its a terriable word. To some its a compliment. Its all in the context, and context is relative.
I think it is a sexy word. Anyway, what is the book about exactly? I am making my Christmas list and I need some good books to read. Thanks.
That word never bother me..than again..I have a tendency to refer to my fellow "sisters" as "wenches". I should just get a t-shirt that says WENCHES HAVE CUNTS and call it a day. I have always wanted to read the book but I honestly have this silly hangup about going into a public bookstore and purchasing it...kinda like the hangup I have with purchasing any type of sexual book.
when a person uses the name for female genitalia as an insult, it's oppressive to women, no matter the context or intention.
I'm actually reading that book right now. I'm about half way through it. so far, I think a lot of it is really excellent, and about as good as a female empowerment book can be, but a lot of her opinions are a lot more extreme than mine. definitely worth a read
Or cock, penishead, dickweed, dildo..or how about words that belittle a man's "endowments". It's a 2-way street.
Otter, you can just buy the book online. Go to half.com and you'll get it used so you will be recycling and it will be cheaper than new. Solves that problem. I like calling people dicks and cunts and I will not stop. I also like to tell my boyfriend to fuck my ****, because it turns me on. I will not stop that either. The rest of you can do what you want, I don't give a shit. So can someone please get back to the point of the thread and tell me a little more about the damn book please. From what I have read, I am not sure I even want to get it now.
Hell yes. It's a great bedroom word. It's kinda funny as an insult, because I really don't find it that offensive. It's like calling someone a vulva or a boob, it doesn't mean much of anything to me (no I wouldn't call someone that to their face, this is the abstract)
