    I'm ordering a DivaCup tommorow!

    Oh, joy!

No more fretting about how I'm not environmentally conscious when it comes to "that time of the month," no more worrying about constant, pesky leaks.. no more all-around crappiness associated with menstruation.

    I feel free already... sweeeet.

    :D

    Cool.

If I didn't have a history of endometriosis, I'd probably get one, too.

(Sorry I had to edit the title of the thread. We are now required to use titles on our threads which are descriptive. :) )

    The diva cup is great...

Don't depend on it as your only protection the first few months while you get used to it. Make sure to wear a pad too. It's frustrating in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, it is the greatest protection. Plus, it's not full of icky chemicals.

I have a Diva Cup, but I've never been able to really get the hang of it. no matter what it always leaks for me just a little. it's frustrating, actually, because everyone else seems to love it, but it just doesn't work for me:$

I haven't had ANY leaking whatsoever with my Diva Cup. The only issue I had was that I had to cut the entire tail off. I have vestibulitis, so I am extremely sensitive. No matter how I situated it, it was uncomfortable. But once I cut the tail off, it was great! No crinkly, bulky diaper pads, no drying, irritating tampons. No sending the hubby out to buy me stuff. No trying to hide a pad in my pocket before I go to the bathroom. No worrying I'm going to leak. It's the best thing EVER!

One thing, though - why does it gross people out? I rave about my cup and some people are totally squigged out by the idea. One girl even told me that she didn't think it was natural to not let it "flow out." But she uses tampons! It's not like a cork that's going to stop you up! :D

minka, I think that people get wiggy about having to touch the fluids. (like they never do, or can't wash their hands) I'm messy with my keeper (thinking about going silicone, tho, my keeper is in middle age now)
also, we normally don't talk about fem protection IRL.

I want one soooo bad. Or a Keeper. I haven't figured out which one might be better. The gum rubber seems more natural, but the silicone seems somehow... cleaner?

In any case, I'm too poor to get one now. I just started my period yesterday and immediately made myself some cloth pads. I tried out a few different things during the day, with some random scrap I had laying around, and when my bf got home from work he brought me some terry cloth and Warm & Natural batting to make better ones. The pattern I ended up making seems to work well - it's basically a cotton sleeve with wings secured w/ velcro. Then I have a bunch of terry or batting pads that I can stick into the sleeve, so I can change how much padding/absorbancy I need depending on circumstances. Plus, having it all "disassemble" like that makes for easier cleaning and faster drying! I love it! :)

I started using my Mooncup (silicone like the Diva) on May 21st 2005 and I haven't looked back.
Every woman I've talked to about it also got freaked out thinking they could never get used to it, it seems so big and messy. I would never be able to go back to tampons, and luckily I don't need pads.

I've been extremely interested in getting one of these also. Anyone with really heavy flows, tried one?

Me! I love it. It's so much better than tampons, because even with tampons, if I was on a heavy flow day, I'd be changing it every couple of hours. With the diva, I can go up to 6 hours without having to change it even on my heaviest day.

it's a lil silicone "cup" that you put inside yourself when you get your period and you clean it out every 2 or 3 hours with warm water and soap. it's more enviromently safe and it's alot more comfy.

i would liek to get on of these but i have a question first. i dont have heavy periods really, the first day is kinda heavy & the second day is a bit lighter & the next two days well thats more kinda like sludge. its not flowing like the first two days & the last day is more like brown discharge. would i still beable to wear the cup on the 3rd & 4th day?

I just ordered a mooncup, too. I am sooo exited. At first, I found it a bit weird. The thing itself, not the thought about touching fluids. (There havn't been any tampons with aplicators around until just recently, so I am used to getting some blood on my hands.... ) But informing myself and thinking about it made me want to try it really bad :).
