from what I hear form people who have lived there, it's pure crap. Over-crowed & pathetic drivers. Anyone I know who's lived there has no interest in ever returning. Who knows though, you may like it. I personally think North Bay is nicer.
London has a lot of old money. The university is great. There are a lot of new "big box" retail stores going up around the outskirts of the city. We have a great music scene. If you like to party, the clubs are more pub style places but we do have a few small and large dance clubs. We currently have a female mayor, although we are about to hold city elections and our current mayor is up against former MP Joe Fontana. The streets downtown are very safe. I can walk downtown after the bars close, and I'm a fairly cautious person. We are a lawn pesticide free city, and there are lots of trees around (London's motto is "Forest City"). As far as jobs go and opportunities, it depends what kind of field you're in. Buying a house has gradually become more expensive in London, however renting is still relatively cheap and safe in all areas of the city. It depends what you are looking for in the city. Do you have any specific questions?
yeah i heard london was no better than north bay i've actually been thinking of moving to banff but i'm looking into a few places.
I've lived in London my whole life, and therefore find it the most boring place on earth. that being said, knowing people who have moved here, many say it's exciting and fun, a major improvement over wherever they've come from. one thing that seems to be consistant is that it's hard to meet people, romantically or otherwise, unless you're really involved in school, clubs, stuff like that. on the plus side, there are lots of festivals in the summer (the sunfest is awesome), nice bike trails and parks, decent job opportunities, and affordable apartments. overall, not a bad place to live at all.
I live in London, but I would much rather be in Banff or North Bay. Ganje sucks most of the time here, and most of the forest in the city is just dog walking trails. The smog sucks in the summer because we are in a depression in the landscape, like a bowl that holds Detroit and Sarnias pollution. Winters are cold and summers are hot. Very diverse population compared to the north, and yes driving here is scary.
Ive been to london, seems to be a University town, lots of pubs and police. lots of good gange if you know the university kids who are growing
If the lakes, hills and forests in and around North Bay mean anything to you, i doubt that you'll like living in London that much after the novelty of being in a new city wears off. London and North Bay are both university towns, although London is a much bigger city with a much bigger university, although the proportion of resident post-secondary students who come from out of town is higher in NB than in London. North Bay is much more "hippieish" than London as well.
best thing about london are the tim hortons and the fifth wheel truck stop in dorchester ...but then it would having trucked through all of ontario ..lol
