i dono if its just my area but around here you'l be talkin about shrooms everyone will be like ya there cool, there chill and everything. But when you bring up acid there all like ohh acid is crazy, its crazy you shouldn't try it, is it that crazy that people assume things about it. I personnally wanna try acid but this just makes me think of what can go bad so yah is it really that crazy and why do people talk of it like it makes you insane.
acid is a big step up from just taking shrooms in my opinion. i had always wanted to, but had been a bit scared as well... some people have really horrid trips, so thats why the stories are out there. but chances are the people telling the stories havent really done it themselves either. it really opens up your mind .. and if deep inside, you dont like yourself, you may be opening up to something you arent ready to deal with. can you look at yourself in the mirror on mushrooms without freaking out? some people cant.. and those are the people i think that have a hard time with acid. just love and accept yourself.. be with friends you can trust.. and trip where you feel safe.
acid can indeed be crazy, shroom trips are melow by comparrison i've tripped i dunno how many times onacid & every 1 was totaly nuts..all i can say is never trip alone & never trip unlless your already in a really good headspace the reason they say its scaryis..a scarytrip is worse then anything u can imsagine..wether u witness 1 or go through 1
Although acid may be a big step up from shrooms i doubt thats why people "fear it". Most people know absolutly nothing about acid or shrooms for that matter and believe that they "melt your brain" and that shrooms are food poisoning with some cool side effects. However, where i live (I dont know about anywhere else really) people view shrooms as a more natural drug leading to the belief that you can just do it without any thought. There are also the rumors about being legally insane after taking 7 hits. It isn't so much the fear of a bad trip as it is the bullshit spread around by the media and the DEA.
lol, dude shroom trips are only milder because people take small doses. The effects are essentially the same, save lsd's ability to produce intricate detail in the visuals.
wellyes thats true too, but the realityof possibly going insane toa point does exist however it takes a hell of alot..or a screwed up mind to begin with personaly i've done probly a thousand hits or more & i feel way more sane then b4 i took 1..but..i was getting tothe point where it stopped giving & started taking aeway soi stopped i have freinds though that really went overboard on dead tour & yea melted theyre brains not like needing nursing home type brain melt..but to the point hat they are insane & unable to control themselves it sorta depends whothe OP meant i assumked it was ppl who have tripped she was talking about..i've tripped plenty & i'll be the 1st to tell ya to respect its power..& its definately not for everyone..& its way way overused i dont even agree with it being called a recreational drug, i thinkit should be used for mind expansion only but thats just my opinion
I think it serves a purpose for mind expansion for everybody, recreation only for few. Takes a fuckin freak to get shits and giggles out of lsd trips lol. (Like me before my health went bad)
Well I don't know lol, I kinda fear acid. But not because of whatever disinformation...I just think its not some kind of goofy wonderland trip. It is serious stuff for me, I mean I guess i'm one of them when their ego starts shattering that realize there was absolutely no reason to do this...But damn gotta break the ice. Ok I'm not the only one lol ... It's kind of more like a trip to the mecque for me now.
mushrooms often produce trips which bear significance to your own life eg. there are more reports of religious trips than with acid. and these enlightening trips are the ones which cripple many a tripper. well thats my opinion. i think shrooms can teach you more than acid on a higher level sort of way.
I dunno why, but I cannot stand shrooms... except for in huge heroic doses or very small doses. I need to be almost completely with it or completely fucked to enjoy it. Acid though I could take any day of the week, I think it is by far the easiest to handle besides mesc, and I get a lot more out of it in the long run... shrooms to me end up feeling like a dream, where cid is real and happening.
LOL...LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in shrooms) are chemically almost the same thing. Albert Hofmann talks about how his team of chemists had a hard time identifying and then creating psilocybin, but once they did, during self tests they found the experiences to be very similar. He mentions that the shrooms he took caused more of a natural type trip, where he saw images of natives and associated structures and such. All this is though is an example of priming - he was given the shrooms by someone who had been spending time with the natives who used them, so Hofmann had been thinking about natives and all that junk. My one buddy that I've tripped with every time I've tripped has said that every time he took shrooms it was a shitty trip, and that the couple times we took acid it was like heaven. I've heard of people having extremely bad reactions to shrooms, as well as to acid. It's all in how you feel about the substance - if you fear acid and take it, you'll be more apt to freak out if something slightly out of the ordinary happens because you get scared that something bad will happen. Personally, I'd be a little more apprehensive about taking shrooms, because there are several varieties that look almost identical to a kind that will kill you. I've heard of veteran shroom hunters (i forget the actual name for people who study shrooms) who mistook species of shrooms. With acid, usually you're either getting bunk, some RC or the real deal. One of my friends is the kind of person to get shits and giggles out of trippin....this kid is fucking INSANE, but at the same time very intelligent. I have a feeling that we'll be hearing his name someday, as a director/screen writer and shit. Last time we tripped, he drank like a fish, and said that what he felt (only way to describe it is what he said during the trip "I dont know what's real anymore..that poster - is that the sky, or just a picture?"). I would be like that, but the fact that I analyze everything prevents it from being purely recreational for me.
The basic point is everyone reacts to different substances differently. And neuro is right, to a great extent the attitude you take to the drug will have a definite impact on the nature of the trip. The biggest x-factor in acid is the inability to really measure the amount taken. And since it's such a potent chemical it's much easier to inadvertantly take a much stronger dose than intended than it is with shrooms. I mean I can tell if I'm eating 6g dry much easier than if I'm having 400 micrograms.
Well have ya ever met someone who never quite came back from a trip? I have. I have tripped 3 times in my life and that was plenty. I got a flashback the last time, that freaked me out. I had a aquantence in high school who tripped one time and never was the same again. He would stare at walls for hours for no reason. Probably something wrong there to begin with but yea its a greater risk then say smoking a joint. I am over anything that I have to trust someone else to chemically engineer. You never really know what the fuck you are taking. So my philosophy now is if I didn't grow/make it, I don't ingest it.
I do notice many people stating this. And I do understand their views on LSD. Many people around me seem to believe you can go insane any time you take it. They say that there is a certain chance each time that you go completely nuts if you take it (3 people I have talked to). I also noticed that some poeple say that you go insane if you have any sort of bad trip on it (about 8 to 10 people I have talked to). The last one I've heard is "You have no judgement on it, you will jump out of a window" (about 4 to 5 people I have taken to). I think many people are scared because they don't know what's behind the door and they refuse to go there, if the people tried a dose they'd understand...
I'd say shrooms are a step up from LSD, shrooms can really fuck with your emotions and send your thoughts racing all over the place. And thought loops, those fun things, I've only seen them happen to people on shrooms so far.
Acid is nothing to be scared of. If stories of bad trips scare you, try thinking why the trip turned sour. Some people just do not understand how greatly the surrounding environment can effect their trip. Different places give off different vibes.. Some places, especially busy places, give off vibes that can seem confrontational and make you think WOAH! I just cant handle this right now, and they freak out! I think you also need to know yourself at least a little, before trying acid. Some people just have no clue what goes on in their own head. They're on autopilot, which is how many people are. Hence Leary's wise advice: 'Turn on, Tune in, Drop out'
The only people who say "you have no judgement, you will jump out a window" or "you can feel like you're an orange and be afraid that someone's going to peel you" and shit like that are the people who are just repeating what they've heard other uneducated people say. The only reliable thing I heard about LSD from someone I knew never took it (and from the DARE program in general) was a story about a girl who saw grass growing and felt that she had to keep mowing it, and in reality she was rubbing her arms against the carpet and went to the hospital with burns on her arms. It's impossible to not ever come back from a trip, the only thing that might happen is risisual effects, mostly visual things, from tripping. I dosed two nights ago, and I'm still seeing a general upwards motion if I concentrate on say words on a page, but I know from past experience that this will fade over the next week or two. I've heard that when you do a thumbprint you never really get over that sort of visual distortion, but for the most part you learn not to notice it. I would imagine that kid you met who stared at walls for hours at a time had a problem during a trip with wanting to see visuals that the LSD wasn't letting him see, and he was probably trying to see that even after the trip had ended. I imagine, though, that "hours at a time" is a bit of an exaggeration. The bottom line is that it's all YOU, all in how YOUR MIND handles the trip. When I dosed the other night, I stayed as level-headed as I ever have...I've had times when I ripped a bong and was more freaked out, and two nights ago I took the most I've ever taken of probably the best LSD I've had. Even in the last two hours or so of the peak, and the rest of the comedown, I'd only have visuals if I wanted them. The trip can be controlled to an extent, and it's the people who know nothing about what to expect that have bad things happen to them. THAT is why if these drugs become legal they should be used in a controlled setting with people who have experience experiencing "the Experience."
Well I wouldnt say you cant come back from a trip...Im pretty sure that some people ended up unfonctional after tripping alot. Just a thumbprint I heard you need someone to take care of you for some time after. *Even in the last two hours or so of the peak, and the rest of the comedown, I'd only have visuals if I wanted them* can ya explain??? *The bottom line is that it's all YOU, all in how YOUR MIND handles the trip* Or how you let the trip handle your mind ;p
