"An "inukshuk"[plural: inuksuit], is an Inuit word that literally translated means "stone man that points the way." Inukshuks are stone cairns that were erected by Inuit at prominent locations throughout the barrens to serve as guideposts or markers. They were also erected to help herd caribou during their annual migration towards where they could be more easily hunted by the ancient Inuit."

Drumminmama, I'm not really sure if it is totally stable. It's really windy here today and it seems to be standing ok. Only time will tell :D

i want my whole garden full of these when i have my own backyard!!! I remember driving through northern ontario when i was younger and seeing them all over the highway and not knowing what the hell they were. I used to make up crazy stories in my head as to how they got there.... then i stumbled upon a book that explained them and why we see them around so much. They've amazed me ever since.

Well, my poor inuksuk got distroyed. It wasn't rain, it was't wind....it was some drunk neighbourhood kids that snuck into our yard and kicked it over. Grrrrr! It's so hard to have nice things when shit like this happens. Bad karma on them!
