The Pope cites an historical reference and he gets news coverage and uprisings. A powerful Republican official comes on to young boys and he should get a pass. And his past behavior has been covered up for. He may be homosexual, but if he's hitting on youngsters.... he's also a pedophile. Get real republicans you can't have it both ways.
I dont buy any of this. This politician was gay and drunk and made some moves on some 16 year old boys. I think that is disgusting and I dont doubt for a minute that so do all the Republicans AND Democrats in that building. If there was any sort of 'problem' in all this its the gay factor. If they burn him out too harshly then you got 'gay hate crime' alerts going off. If our too nice about it we get people making up fake stories about 'covering for him'. I dont see either here. Put aside the 'spins' put on it by your Jon Stewart Daily Shows or Carvelles and Pundits. Put aside the hype and 'pointed questions' by journalists trying to 'bend' it into a story. I see alot of people pretty disappointed and disgusted by the guy.
The biggest issue is that he was targeting underage individuals while serving as the chairman of the Congressional Caucus Missing and Exploited children. That's the biggest outrage. Did he get his jollies looking at the missing posters? Gays have rights and I respect them, but not when they are in the closet, and protected from scrutiny when they target underage children, by the good old boy network that during every election stands up and trys to tell the rest of us how to live and where to go to church. It's hipocrasy at it's worst. We are told abortion is wrong always, gays shouldn't be allowed to form legal and lasting monogomous relationships through marriage, and stem cell research is an abomination, what about a legislator that targets children, and is covered up for by the rest of his party. It's getting press now, but most of it is for the effect of minimizing damage for the republican party. source As a taxpayer and voter, why weren't these perpetrators removed from office, why should the victim have to avoid the criminal? And I don't care what f*cking party you belong to, come on to an underage child and you have committed a crime in my eyes. And if you cover up for someone that has you are possibly lower in my esteem then the pervert, because you had the power to prevent further damage. Just what justifies you turning a blind eye?...money or power...neither is a justifiable excuse. The Catholic church has used such excuses for years and now Foley tries to foist his misconduct back on them because he was supposedly abused in the past. Did he report it? He could have prevented other abuses if he had. Others stood up and were counted even though it meant destroying their lives.
