In the very distant future if we start to run out of food sources compleatly... I see something else more grim in mind. If we do run out of resourses for animals to eat we'll eventually run out of land to grow veggies. If severe over population occurs we'll just end up eatting eachother. What better way to solve it? The population will decrease and then there will be pleanty of food to eat.
I think in the future the lines between meat-eaters and vegans will be so blurred by the synthetic slop (high protein, low fat, life-extending swill) that passes for food. Hotwater
I'd like to hope so, but I highly doubt it. People are too lazy to become vegan and don't care enough about animals/the earth And I'm voting yes because I'd love it to happen.
not everyone becoming vegans but everyone having a much higher percentage of nonanimal protien and other nutrients in their diet. as was the case before intensive animal husbandry was invented. for reasons several of us have already sited.
Vegetarians in the near future, and eventually vegans in the very distant future. We still have alot of crap to sort out before then.
It could happen. The process is occurring slowly, though. I am sure it will take many, many more years (if humans survive that long) before everyone adopts a vegetarian diet, let alone a vegan one.
I think it is going to opposite directions, those whole will do the junk food full on, and those who are making bid changes, become less "heavy food" eater: they will eat less, no meat or dairy, more light and fresh food. and this actually about something more than just food, it's about changing your energies> vegans will in the long run become more nature oriented, peaceful, and have a quicker mind, it's all about evolution. the meat/heavy food eaters will be more aggressive and heavy in a plysical way and slower in general. today we know some examples about breatharians, it is a known fact that today's science cant explain.... people who have stopped eating, and still are alive. there are just a few of them today, and some describe themselves as human plants, some say they live on sunlight (and recahrge their "battery" by being in the sun for some time everyday), some other say that live on "energy". I mean, dont try this at home...! those people have attained a higher step in evolution...
Since even the fast food restaurants are realizing that more and more people are starting to eat less and less meat, I think in the future that our diets will consist of more naturally based things like plants, flowers, herbs, etc... I think meat will always be in some peoples diets and that can be a really good thing. Bears and lions still hunt, but they still eat plants, berries, flowers, etc... And I think thats the road we're all going down. A harmony with both sides of the eating world. And no matter what happens, I really want Ben & Jerry's to stay in business. Or at least to keep making their Mint Chocolate Cookie ice cream
I would like to say that I sure hope so! I would love to go back to ye olden days of family farms! That was be seriously a beautiful thing! Loving and milking your own cow. Keeping chickens and eating only their natural unfertalized eggs! (I use to do that at my grandma's... those eggs were delicious! Much better than the chemical altered ones of today!) Unfortunately, at this very point in time it's not logical or EASY to have a family farm! My family keeps a small garden growing each summer. I think it's nice because it helps the environment as well as allows my family to eat what we grow! Hmm... it just came to me how important that garden is to my family. I think I should start taking more patience and helping out with it.
I can see an increase in the number of vegans/vegetarians, but I would not expect everyone to adopt a vegan/vegetarian diet. However, with our dwindling resources and farmable land, I would not count on the meat industry continuing as strongly as it is presently, in the future.
maybe in the future we'll have to eat other people, i mean if everything goes to shit better that than eating dirt or grass
Extreme? lol...come on. Im not a heavy "must go vegan" kind of vegan. and i totally see everyone elses poiint of view in this thread, but "extreme" for not drinking cow breast milk or eating dead flesh? Please...Living vegan is actually really easy and enjoyable, and you make it sound like a disease or endless suffering. Plant matter is high in vitamins, minerals and many are high in protein, theres nothing horrendous about living off plants Otherwise i agree with people on this thread
Not a chance in hell, unless we are ruled by a vegan evil tyrant. There are many reasons for this: 1) The economy would 100% plumit and we would enter a second dark age. 2) We would either have to let all the animals go and have extreme animal overpopulation, or do an extreme mass slaughter of animals, let all of that meat go to waste, and let a small percentage of them go (10% or less to prevent animal overpopulation). 3) Very, very few would EVER approve of this. The consequences would be dire, no milk, or many protein based things (besides soy). Plus there will always be redneck conservatives who would never in a million years approve of this. 4) Job loss would be catastrophic. At least 20% of the people would be out of work. 5) We would have to reduce farmland in order for the animals to live and ALOT of our own food would be taken by these animals (far more than now). 6) 3rd world countries would become far worse. And to animal humpers (such as mynxyxc (or however you spell it)): Go fuck yourselves. Yes I am an environmentalist, but for you to actaully HOPE that humans go to extinct, you have problems. Go fuck an animal, make inbred kids, and kill yourself, because in your minds that would do good for the planet. If you put a single animal's life over a single human's, you are an extremist, and there is no stupider person on this planet than an extremist (fundamentalists, Bush, Michael Moore, terrorists, eco-terrorists, facists, Nazis, communists, in fact it is impossible not to be a total idiot and be an extremist).
^^ Glen, at 19, it's ok, i get it, you are not that mature, we forgive you. ("go fuck yourselves") well don't worry, i dont give a shit about your immature little post hopefully some day you will see that your ego and you body and your desire (to eat meat etc) is NOT the center of the world. When you start to see that there is a WLOLE universe out there, an earth, an ecosystem that is intimatly connected to every humanbeing, than you will know what is right for our time on earth. Right now you don't know, it is ok, that YOU HAVE POSTED HERE SHOWS ACTUALLY THAT A HIPPDEN PART OF YOU WANT TO CHANGE. But please, dont be rude, be a little bit more humble. peace
Never. There are too many people (like me) who enjoy meat. I even know one guy who will eat vegetables only if they are deep fried.
No chance in hell. I'm vegan and I know why and most people who eat meat know about it. People do what makes them happy, if they wanna eat meat then they do, it's as simple as that.
