so, i had a post on here earlier regarding my new plant's leaves yellowing. i'm still not sure what the culprit was, but it looks like the nice people who helped me otu here were right, it did in fact correct itself. i now have two plants growing, the newer one has almost caught up to the one mentioned in that post in size, since it seemed to have been slightly stunted due to whatever trauma it sustained, but they both look pretty happy, at least to my untrained eye. i'm interested to know what you guys think! here are some pics: so obviously they have a bit more to go before they're ready to be switched to the 12/12 cycle, but do they look okay as far as their color and leaves are concerned? i'm not sure if i need to eb doing something else, as i haven't fertilized them yet, since they seem to be doing so well and growing at a pretty decent rate. i've just been watering them whenever the soil feels like it needs it. someone mentioned flushing them once a week, but i never got confirmation on what flushing is exactly, and whether i really need to do it that often. thanks for the help!
They look good. I would recommend the weight test as a check to see if they need water rather than what the soil looks like. Basicly you just lift the pot and see if it feels heavy. If it feels heavy then they have enough water. Looking at the soil to see when to water is an easy way to overwater. As for flushing, there are only a few times you want to flush, mainly when there is a problem in the soil that you want to get out, such as a toxic build up or a ph issue. So don't flush on any sort of regular basis.
exactly, it's puting like 2 or 3 times the amount of water that your pot could hold. the idea being that it will take lots of built up stuff with it and give you more of a clean slate with the soil, but not quite a real clean slate.
