I'm new here but I notice there isn't anything on Nick drake. I Find him very influential, and five leaves left is a truely fantastic album; it mixes fantastic instrumental arrangments, brilliant folk guitar playing and great entrancing vocals. He was a very talented bloke and his premature death was a great loss for the world of music,
His death was a great loss to music, but its also what brought him some recongnition. An amazing song writer who was well before his time....
Five leaves is amazing. "Pink Moon" is my personal favorite though. His death was a great loss, but his music will always live on.
I've only heard pink moon once but i remember its only guitar and vocals, one thing i love about 5 leaves is the menagerie of instruments that are so beutifully arranged
wow i went and bought five leaves left and it is amazing i love the music and his voice just floats so well on the music thamk you i had never heard him before but he is one of my favs now.
awesome, I think Thoughts of Mary Jane is my favourite, it's so etherial, in the spirit of the song itself
I like the song Time of No Replay quite a bit. Dirty Bongwater hasa Spearhead quote! Yeah Spearhead! Yeah Bongs!
sorry to awake this post, but I can't believe noone has mentioned Bryter Layter. I think it's his best.
I love Pink Moon, I can listen to that album over and over again. I don't know what other album I've listened to but I couldn't get into it quite as much. When I first heard him I had no clue how old the music was or anything about him and I searched him and when I read he was dead all I could think was "of course", that's how it goes.
i have both pink moon as bryter layter in my personal music collection and they both get me to another place so peaceful i never knew it even existed. i love him
I just got into Nick Drake - the only one I have is Five Leaves Left, but I really love it. What should I get next?
It's like the rest of the World has just discovered ND. I have to say I feel ambivalent about it: it has caused an acoustic music/nu folk explosion of sorts and for all the wrong reasons; a veritable inquisition of Ovation/Martin torture!
Nick Drake is one of my favorites! His albums are really very superb. They all have their own unique sound, too. Bryter Layter has such cool jazz influence. They're all wonderful, wonderful stuff.
I like everything he has ever made! I am a huge fan of him! Right now I am listening to Place To Be. My favourites are River Man, Time Has Told Me, Cello Song and Pink Moon.. But it is hard to choose favourites... His music makes me so happy and peaceful. I wonder if it is possible to not like his sort of music? It isn't irritating or loud or disturbing or anything.. hmm
