Hey! Welcome, we can't wait to see pictures! If you're using rubber bands at all, I would seriously recommend using them at the roots. I would clockwise-rub the roots of every lock, and then put a snug band on it for about a month. You'll notice a drop in frizzies. Something else that a lot of people do to use a crochet needle. Of course, there is also the method of just waiting. Glad you're here! Namaste
Yeah i had some ruberbands at the roots @ first but i kept hearing that i need em then i read i dont and i personally went through this stage were i was like wtf ya know so after aplying the bands off and on i said hell with it and liberated the roots all together and just left em on my tips but as of yesterday i pulled those off all together and said well let em do what their gonna do and what ever happens happenz jah will set them free so i can enjoy so at this point my babys have a mind of their own.....peace.. That's great! Natural is probably the most freeing and rewarding, but is certainly not always the most practical. Keep us posted with pictures and commentary, and visit around! Most of us have pictures up, as well as life stories, manifestos, idiota, etc. =)
i dont see how bands at the roots would make any difference the frizies will go away in time as they lock up, but u can use any kinda light residue free conditioning spray..just like a fine mist u can make your own with whatever ingredients feel right to you id suggest any mix of any of the following, & u can experiment with different mixes to see what works best. some will help with conditioning others with tightening some may loosen the dreads slightly if used too much apple cider vinagar (diluted) sea salt (salt water solution) aloe vera gel tea tree oil rosemary oil jojoba oil (sparingly its a very good conditioner) cocoa butter any other scented oil youlike wash your hair like once a week & shake out the excess water..mist your dreads withjust a light myst & drip dry i always wonder if excessive palm rolling doesnt actualy cause more friziness just outta curiusity pick 1 easily identifyable dread..& dont palm roll that 1 for a few weeks...see if that makes a difference havent had new dreads in many years ,,but i really dont remember havin muchprob with frizziness.. but inever palmrolled much..i'm sure iplayed with em some when they were new..but at the time i never heard of backcombing or palmrolling or making dreads..all i knew about dreads were thagt if u stop combing they happen so i stopped combing & yup..they happened
Man i hope my dreads reach the level yours are at man my god those puppys look sick as hell lol i love em ...yeah i tossed a alovera plant in my blender and added a lil water to the mixture and tossed that in my hair yesterday smelled like wheatgrass kinda smelled like it too i was almost tempted to drink it by the time i was finished lol..i finaly got some loops and i totally dig em i aint gonna mess with em at all ya know i want that real look im not down with that pretty perfect salon look i think thats so comercial and so fake you know what i mean...my buddys at work say i look like side show bob from the simpsons right now lol
hahaha the sideshow bob looks awesome but u dont gotta throw the plant in a blender take a knife & slice the aloe leave along the edge in 1/2 then with a spoon or knife or fingers just scrape out the gelinside ya dont want the outter part only the gel in the center u dont have to dilute it but u can if u want
i wash my dreads every-other day with lavender Dr. Bronnors soap. i have to wash so often because my head sweats a lot and it starts to itch. the frizziness will go away after like 6 months. I wouldn't use conditionder at all. if your scalp starts to itch use lavender oil. it has worked wonders for me. my dreads are 6 months old.. for loose hairs get a pack of dental floss for braces. put the hair in the loop and weave it into the dread. good luck! happy dreading!
here some pictures fresh from the beach man that salt water really drys out the hair....my ends are verry frizzy and over all i got a ton of loose hair but hey comes with it i guess..hope you enjoy the pics
whats the white in em? salt waters great for dreads is thewhite stuff aloe? if so looks like u used way too much
I think the white was the flash. Awesome dreads though, any loose hair? Just turn said loose hair into a ball and put it into the nearest dread-root. NEVER CUT LOOSE HAIRS!!!
