OKAY..So after reading this forum I have decided to leave all the products alone and go at this the natural way.

I decided that Im not going to waste my money on crap and endure the side glances of a semi-conservative campus while my hair goes through the transformation.

    BUT let me ask:

Before I start the proccess. Im going to buy the knottyboy shampoo.

Can I still section my hair? Although natural, I do want them to have some kind of uniformity about them. And IF I section my hair, is it safe to use rubber bands at the base and tips?

Everyone says Use pure aloe..WHERE do you get it? Keep in mind: I go to college in a small town with only a wal-mart. So if you can't get it at wal-mart..What site is it sold at?

And when I go all natural, obviously I do no back combing. But do I palm roll and all that good stuff? Or just go about my day and let it do what it wants?

    THANKS

If you want to section your hair I would try to do so with beads rather than elastics, but elastics are usually no problem, unless its above 20 degree's centigrade where you are now.
If you want pure aloe, I would suggest growing an aloe plant, I have one sitting on my window sill, just crack open a branch thingy and apply to hair.

Well, you can get aloe gel at any health-food store.

I suggest NOT using rubberbands...if you keep them in too long they get sticky and dreadlocks have been known to swallow things...and having something gooey and sticky in your hair doesn't sound like that much fun.

^^ Yeah, agreed on that one. Beads can work wonders, though! Go to a craft store and buy a bunch of little wooden beads that'll fit over them and just keep rotating them around your dreads every once in a while. :D
