What's up with all the reports on Erowid about Datura lately? There's been almost 2 reports a day in the last several weeks with people like, "My friend told me I'd trip balls if I ate these seeds." and the dose is like, 8,642 seeds. Funny how they all end the same. "I'll never do that again. It was 3 days in hell."
Kids, you do not live in the rain forest. You do not run around killing wild boars with spears. You do not dress yourself in only a g-string that ties your penis to your stomach. You are not a medicine man. You are most likely a teenager who thinks he's graduated from CCC's to something better. Cut this shit out!
Lo and behold, the next day there's 2 more reports with the same thing. I'm going to write a letter to the DARE program and tell them to lay off of demonizing L, MDMA, and pot and instead feed the officer teaching the class 600 seeds. Maybe that will discourage this silly jimson weed induced epidemic of stupidity (plus provide hours of pure comedy).

lol. thats right , send the information to DARE about Jimson weed, and in a couple of years there'll be even MORE people taking datura... DARE is the stupidest program ever , it's been proven the students who graduate from the program are most likely to DO drugs than any average kid...

I had to take the program in grade 4, it was a school activity in my grade and all my friends were joining it... and look at me now... Im proud to wear my DARE medal around my neck everytime I ingest into a psychedelic experience

Although I do agree, datura is really not the thing to do lol... I had taken it after doing a lot of research on the subject, researching how many seeds or leaves the ancient tribes used during their rituals, and what I should expect. But I know too many people who do this because "it gets you high"... even though I was ready, I feel stupid for having done datura.

 

At least you made efforts to prepare yourself. If your interested in ethnobotany, the history of teonacatl, and yage' ceremonies as well as the eradication of tribal culture and exploitation of indigenous labor, check out "One River" by Wade Davis. Don't feel dumb for trying datura. My point is that it appears alot of people take it on a whim looking for a "trip" and put themselves in danger by not understanding the powers of scopalamine/tropane alkaloids.

Lol, that's jokes, i agree. I also heard that Jimson weeds/seeds are dangerous and you go delerious due to teh toxic effects. I've also heard that there is a thin line between tripping and dying on it...

 

KIDS NEVER EVER EVER SMOKE OR EAT OR DO ANYTHING WITH Datura

 

I am writing this in the hopes that it will prevent someone else from severe injury. This is not a report of how I am affected by the drug Datura but by my nephew who is in very, very bad shape. My 16 year old nephew is currently in I.C.U. and still after 36 hours is incoherent and nearly comatose, he hasn't recognized any family members or his surroundings since this started. His pupils are dilated nearly the size of dimes. He is apparently in living hell as demonstrated by his horrified facial expressions of bulging eyes and uncontrollable trembling. He is continually doing sporadic mumblings, with paranoid darting eyes and scanning around the room, looking at what we can only imagine. It is very obvious that he is experiencing true terror and horrific scenes of hallucination.

His heart rate is hovering around 115 - 130 bpm and his mouth is coated with blood. He is shaking, agitated and in four points restraints (which he got out of and tried to pull the catheter out of his penis which would have resulted in severe injuries did he not get stopped in time). For the first nine hours of his 'high' we were in the dark about what could be the cause of this - ambulance drivers, fire chief, police all said it was drugs but the test results all came back negative - blood and urine samples negative. This all led the doctors to believe this was neurological and my nephew was taken for a CAT scan, where results still came back negative. We all feared the worst, brain damage, anuerism, etc. every terrifying thought came to mind. All family members were called in the middle of the night where we all rushed to the the Emergency room. We cried, worried and prayed - the younger children witnessed this chaos and won't soon forget.

If you want to try this drug, please consider what the effects of this on others will be...$20,000 hospital bill at least -ICU for days, CAT scan, Ambulance, Specialists - please take warning. We can't determine how much he took as a plant with four pods were found in his room. We still don't know if he will pull out okay or not. The doctors cannot say if there will be any long term effects.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Thank you all for trying to talk some sense into the kids nowadays. I myself have taken Jimson weed. I did half a pod back in the 80's. Never again. I tripped my ass off. I also had very bad cotton mouth. It dehydrates you severely. I was also given the pharmacuetical version of it to counterract the effects of some psyche meds. Needless to say I was a trippy chick. It ain't anything anybody should do by choice. I had horrific dreams on the meds. I took myself off the psyche meds and started doing St. Johns Wort and other herbal treatments and just hung out in the woods by myself until my mind recuperated. I was going through some heavy mental shit at the time due to some traumatic BS. I have done LSD and it was beautiful. But Jimson ain't beautiful. The only way I would ever consider it again would be under the supervision of a trained and competent medicine man or woman. That I trusted implicitly with my life and mind. I was Stupid when I was young. I am wholehaeartedly in agreement with you all. Hallucinogenics are useful to access the other realms under the supervision of a shaman if you are in training to become one. If you have prepared yourself and are mentally and physically in a place of proper beingness. Dosage is also all important and only a trained shaman can advise you on how much is enough and how much is dangerous.
Pot and homemade wine are the only thing I do these days. There are much better ways of going within and getting enlightenment. Getting scared shitless and messing up your mind and body are not conducive to enlightenment.

theres certain things i'd never even concider unless in the guidance of a shaman..or some1 i concider to be of that level..i personaly wouldnt even try salvia unless just the right circumstances..no i realy have no wish totry it..lol

weed is all u need ..& psychodelics if u wanna go on a crazy spiritual journey..but never the jimson or anything like that ..thats how i feel sometimes..even after ppl come back after several days in near coma. 1 person sayin it can be used safely without very knowledgebale supervission & some1 will decide to try it

I think inhalants, datura, nutmeg and cigarettes are probably the number one reason(s) why marijuana should be legalized. In terms of pure toxicity they are the most dangerous drugs in the world. I don't see anybody out there trying to get an intense fever to try and hallucinate, so why do you give your body enough toxins to make it break down and lose touch with reality?

These drugs would not be even considered if drugs like marijuana were legal.

 

Well, hate to be a dick, but after I research this shit down to a T and take a look at it's chemistry - I'm taking a dose. Sounds like an adventure if used properly.

Hah. I would never do this... never! I remember my friend... from school... we were good friends... and one day he comes to me (hadn't seen him for like a week) and tells me that he had eaten datura seeds... of course some of the things were funny to hear what he had done but still... he told me to never try it and i won't... He ended up 24 hours in a hospital also... he told me that nothing can describe it better than 2-3 days of total delusions and hell-like madness. You don't even know that you're doing something wrong even if you were walking around naked in the middle of the road...

*EDIT* someone once told me that the native people used datura-soaked darts to shoot animals and kill them...
