I was told in sex ed that only one STD could live outside of the body and that it could only survive for 8 seconds outside of the body.

Well, despite this, I still think I have an STD. I have never had sex, but I did shave the pubs above my penis the ones that go slightly up the shaft with someone elses razor in my family. It could only belong to one of my parents. I did this about 3 days ago, and ever since I've had these red bumps everywhere the razor touched (Where I shaved its pretty heavy, and some on my upper-inner thighs). A few look like they have come to a head like a pimple.

Is this a STD or just iratation from shaving? I have shaved my pubs once, and I did have some iratation, but I don't think it was this bad or I would have remembered. I do itch some, but thats just from the stubs of hair left I'm pretty sure. Also, if I can avoid it, I don't want to ask my parents if i got an STD from their razor. I don't even know if they shave or just trim, and I really don't want to find out.

    Thanks for any help.

I doubt it. Do you know for a fact your parents have STDs?

No, I do not. However, I did see a HIV/AIDs test one day sitting on one of our tables, but I think it was a brochure. I couldn't tell and never went back to check.

Sounds like a shaving rash to me... it happens to most people, particularly in sensitive areas.

In grown hairs? Can't you get an infection from that?

irritation and possibly a very minor bacterial infection. very common in shaving, even with one's own razor (you should use a fresh blade, whether it's your razor or someone else's).

i'm assuming it's cleared up by now, but for future reference keep that in mind and use an anti-bacterial soap when you shave (anywhere on your body) and afterwards. exfoliating before and after will often help, too, as it stimulated the skin and helps avoid ingrown hairs.
