men created monogamy. they wanted to protect their property, which they'd decided was going to be passed to only their progeny, usually male, instead of down the more reliable female line of matriarchal societies. since only the mother could be definitely known in a non-exlusive relationship, women had to be faithful to only one husband in order to make sure that the males were providing for their own offspring. i think it's funny that since men are primarily the ones to complain about the concept of fidelity (instead of women who are more successful at circumventing it) that it was most likely a man who came up with the idea.

 

good point kc but men's initial point is that no one (other than them) can sleep with "their" woman/women so as the seminal succession is not in doubt but they can sleep around with other women

which brings up another issue... my friends and i are traditionalists (core hippie values) and so we do the orgy thing at parties but what happens is the guys form a big line to be with me while my other girlfriends who aren't as pretty are often standing around watching me and i kinda feel sorry for them

... which is probably how the idea of private property came about is one guy decided to make a woman his own so he wouldn't have to wait in line anymore or even wait to have sex when he wanted it

at any rate, women had as much right to demand fidelity from their men if it was being forced upon themselves. its only fair.

You can not be forced into fidelity. It has to be what you want. Otherwise, it's just not real.

Monogamy is fine is that is what people want. Its not the only way though. Ive always been a more then one person kinda person but Ive always been honest about it and always seem to find people that either dont mind or even like that about me....

Usually leaves me with a pretty happy situation....
