    I was thinking the same...

In fact I'm not even reading this whole argument, so now that I have proved myself useless on this thread, I am going to quitely show myself out.

Hmm, interesting question. What have I done?

    • Breastfed my children (good for the enviroment, good for my babies, good for general world karma as well as personal karma)
    • Help other womyn breastfeed their babies (ditto above)
    • Grow an organic garden
    • Buy green
    • Refuse to use toxic chemicals or buy materials which used them in my home
    • Do my part to get Dubya out of office
    • Make sure my 18 yr old dd registered to vote as SOON as she turned 18
    • Have discussions with my children about the enviroment and their impact on the planet and how their actions and purchases have political and enviromental imact on everyone
    • Refuse to watch FOXnews

also, all that gas is burned and then rises, slowly destroying the ozone. Stop trying to go for the hippie look buying retro shit and start caring more about the environment than materialistic crap.

Oh thats not that bad there just trying to stall people up in court so they'll have a little less hellish time dealing with the protesters. There not going to get convicted of anything, and the FBI is just trying to thin out the numbers clogging the streets of NY. I agree with the right to protest, but the protester are just taking up space and accoplishing nothing.

I think Fox News is hilarious. :p

Well as much as it makes me shudder, that does sound like something Sean Hannity would say, and yet I really think it. Protesting at a convention doesn't acomplish anything, and it'll cost the city lots of money, i see where the FBI is comming from, theres a good chance it'll get violent, and I dont think the FBI hassling some protesters is that alarming, considering everthing else that going on. Protestnig a convention accomplishes nothing, but I'm not aginst it or anything.

Anyone who wants to do more should just renounce their citizenship. Its the ultimate form of protest. Imagine, a huge group of people like 6-12 thousand lined up to renounce thier citizenship...

um.. i dont know what the movement is... um.. but hippy things i have done are.. well i really havent done much but since i live in germany i think its so cool and take part in not using plastic bags at the grocery stores but taking my own cloth bags to reduce waste. thats common out here. i wish it was that way in america. also the recycling system out here is pretty practical and used alot. all you have to do is take your bottles back to the grocery store you bought them at and get the return tax from them. we also buy recycled toilet paper haha even though that sounds funny. maybe this is the wrong movement though haha. i guess i havent earned hippie of the year yet

Well, here's how I see it. And I'm the son of God. We are in a "Hippie" forum. I'm not refering to Hip Forums but rather the sub-forum called "Hippies" which leads me to believe that when you, unionpacificrailraod, use the word "movement" my only option is to assume that you're talking about a "Hippie Movement". Now, here's is what the difference is between you and the King of the Jews (but no longer Jewish), me. You might have good intentions but purchasing and driving a 57 chevy isn't that environmentally sound, since I assume by carpooling people you're trying to be more environmentally conscious.

But didn't you ever think of just riding your bike or getting some kind of used or new hybrid instead? I mean a hybrid would be a lot better for the environment than a 57 chevy and riding a bike and encouraging others to ride bikes or walk would be even better.

Well, I'm sure even good hearted people would say something like, "Fuck it, I'll drive to work if my only other option is walking." Yes, walking is a tad better than riding a bicycle but just think for a second. Walking is what you could say "the most environmentally sound" form of transportation, but due to the fact that it probably leads to more sweating than bike riding and walking is incrediably slow, the optimal choice is riding a bike. I try to get in at least 20 miles a week and right now I can ride at about an average speed of 25-30 mph. This is riding on a sidewalk of a street that goes up and down occasionally but not really hills. It's more of an uphills ride 10 miles and downhill the other 10.

The only non-environmental problems a bike even has wuld just be the rubber and/or oil on the chains, but I haven't oiled my chains ever and neither has my dad (for my bike at least) and it's a 20 year old bike so yeah.

i really really wish you would address what i said about your 57 chevy destroying the ozone. you care so much about the environment supposedly, but then you go and get a planet-killer like this.
