    HI,
Anyone had their tongue split? Id appreciate your comments, and stuff you've learned. My main concern is how to keep it from sticking back together after it has been split. Been told, by a professional, to stretch a tongue piercing up first and go from there. However I did try that. I had a 3.2m gauge tongue piercing last year, but they put in such a long bar that it all ripped and I had to take it out. I hated the bar in my mouth anyway and won't do that again. I need to know how to split it without having it pierced....... and how to keep it split. Any comments would be most appreciated, thanx
Also, does anyone know of a really good body mod artist that can do an excellant tongue splitting job? Oh, I live in the UK.

If you check the BMEzine, it has a section on DIY tongue splitting, including pictures as I recall. They usually have fantastic aftercare instructions as well.

Most body mods hurt, it's the result that makes it worth it! But I'm assuming slicing your tongue down the middle would be pretty painful...
I really wouldn't do it myself, as there's a nerve and an artery in your tongue, and the risk of cutting one of those by accident would turn me off doing it myself! Of course this is just an opinion, and you're free to do as you wish :) Sorry I don't have any advice for not sticking and all!

lol yes it sounds a bit mad to anyone who first hears about it. I was the same.
I've seen it done on several people, and it looks amazing! If you practise a lot, and you get really dextrous with it, imagine what you could do with it! ;)
My tongue is like two halves just waiting to be split anyway; have you ever looked closely at yours? It's two halves joined together. Anyway I didnt feel much when I had it pierced (no anaesthetic), so it cant be that painful.

I know one way of spliting it is to have your tounge pierced and then feed a piece of fishing line threw the hole, and tie it at the tip of your tounge, slowing tightening it as each day passes, however I wouldnt reccommend doing it, I suggest going to a professional. The name Steve Haworth comes to mind.

I watched a thing about it on DSC channel. The piercer used a scalpal and split the guys tongue. He had the option for a numbing thing....but said no. He ended up pretty much in tears....so, yes....it does hurt I'm guessing (The guy wasn't a wuss....he was more tattoos and piercings than plain skin).
    Don't do it yourself....
