    Hey guys,

I just got done cleaning my glass pipe. I had to use Nail Polish Remover and salt instead of Rubbing alcohol and salt. After a few tries I got it fully clean, well at least as clean as it is going to get. The inside and outside looks likes it's new, except there is cloudy patches on the inside where the resin was. I rinsed it after with just warm salt water, then multiple times with just warm water. I rinsed it very good.

There is still a very slight smell to it which kind of smells like a mix of smells that were on the pipe. The cloudy patches bother me a bit. I really don't want to be inhaling any harmful fumes that could be from when the nail polish remover was there.

Are these cloudy patches normal after cleaning? Is there any way I could make sure it is perfectly clean and safe to use?

    Thanks guys,

    -Alan

I let my friend clean mine out the other day. He used just rubbing alcohal and warm water, said he rinsed it well with hot water. I used it a couple hours later and it was fine, so I would think you should be too.

nail pollish remover isnt rubbing alcahol so may leave a chemical residue
id suggest soaking it in rubbing alcahol & let it evaporate

i would suggest using rubbing alcohol to remove the residue from the nail polish.
which is what you should of used in the first place.

did you pipe really need cleeaned that bad that you couldnt wait to buy the alcohol?

why didnt you just get some hot water and some salt, out in in a bag and shake it a bit and then leave it on the floor for a day. all the residue came off on mine after i ran it through some hot water. then you got yourself a clean pipe without any chemicals. and it worked for me, which is impressive.

I tried that already. It didn't work for me. Then I tried salt+dish soap which I heard would work.

Also, my pipe is shaped like a pig's tail, and there are only a few place you can scrape off resin with a Q-tip or a paperclip.

Not a good pic but it's shows it's shape.

Thanks gys. I am going to try my best to pick up some rubbing alcohol. Then I will do what you guys suggested.

wow, cool pipe. yeah, best thing to do is soak it in some isopropyl just to be sure. i don't know jack shit about nail polish remover, though. i know isopropyl works like a charm, put some in tupperware container and stick your pipe in there for a couple hours, rub the bowl with your finger and run some warm water/salt over it, and you're set.

You should see it when it's clean and in good light.

When clean it is clean, it's pretty much just green, light blue and clear.

When resin builds up it becomes purple, dark green, dark blue, and light blue.
