okay...here's what's goin on. i backcombed right? they've locked real well..not all, but yeah...very good. for a while i thought wax was good...i TOTALLY UNDERSTAND now that many people have probs with it, and i see why..lololololol. but during the time i thought i needed to wax, i would always get busy, and i barely ever waxed me dreads. i've had em for about 2 months...and in that time i only waxed em the day i backcombed em...and very very sparingly since then. now that i know that i don't want to do that...lol. i had rubber bands at the roots and decided they needed to come out..lol..yeah...^^. so like...will my dreads be alright now? i'm going to get some of the soap you guys are talking about and keep on doing what it sounds like i need to be doing...lol. but yeah...they should be cool now right? basically...switching from using wax on backcombed dreads to not using it will be alright right?..lol.
thanks guys..you have NO IDEA how much help you've been^^. wish i would have found this place sooner..><...lol
    thanks,
    Bryce

    Hey Bryce,

I went wax free a while back, about....ooooo...a month, one and 1/2? My dreads have really recovered. But heres what I did...

As an alternitive to wax, I used Aloe Vera Gel, something you can get at any health-food store! I even found that saltwater makes a good lockin' acellerator, I put it into a spray bottle for convenience.

Really, don't worry bout going wax free. it's simple and if you wash your hair once a week your hair will recover.

awesome!!..thank you SO much for replying..lol. all common sense said it'd be alright...but yeah..they mean a lot to meh, and i wanted something from someone who actually knows what they're talkin about..lol
so like..any kind of Aloe Vera Gel will work? or do i need to look/avoid certain ingredients?

100% aloe is what you want. And it can't hurt to do an apple cider vinegar rinse or a baking soda cleanse or something... Help make sure that wax comes out! Glad you've found useful info here - it's a really great community! :) Welcome! :D
