Okay i just read a little about Rainbow. it sounds quite intresting but im still a little lost. first what does LEO stand for? second, i've been planning to "walk the earth" after i graduate high school, so is there any particular group that travels around the country? third does rainbow frown upon the use of marijuana? i heard a couple of people mention people having a belly button whats with that? i would look these up on my own but i have a limited time each day on this computer and i have other subjects i need to research. thank you.
the belly button saying is just a way to let folks know that all are welcome LEO stands for Law Enforcement Officer(s) There are several groups/kitchens/ect that travel the country All Rainbows have there own opinions concerning controled substances (including alcohol) There are drug/alcohol free kitchens at Gatherings and alcohol is generally frowned upon inside the main Gathering but is acceptable in A-camp
While there's thread like this going around, I got a question too. I've heard the term 'Aggro' being tossed about. I'm assuming that it's short for Aggrovated, just like in videogame terminology. So which came first? Has the 'Aggro' term been used for over more than a decade with the rainbows? Was it something that seeped in from a more modern culture or it is an old school term that some nerd eneded up using down the road. Etymology intrigues me, even if I can't spell it!!
aggro well rainbow terminology evolves over the years but many terms i hear 1st at a gathering then spreads out through more normal culture from there i supose through fests and shows then to the larger community and the bellybutton thing when ppl ask how do you join..or whats it cost or haha how do i get a ticket.. the answers always..ya got a bellybutton? then youir already a part of it it goes back tothe original invite tothe gatherings inviting ALL from hippy freaks to world leaders anyone with a bellybutton is welcome..although we don't have random bellybutton inspections
Think it was updated to having a heart........... What do we do?? All kinds of stuff! Some folks put a great deal of their energy into helping with the many kitchens, there's all sorts of things that need to be done to run a kitchen, wood gathering, water carrying, veggie chopping & those are just basics. Folks play music, there's a huge variety of musicians at Gatherings. There are workshops, like meditation, yoga, ect. It'd take days to name all the things that folks do at Gatherings but the biggie is the prayer for world peace on the 4th of July.
Dude, wake up and rage! Be a fat kid and cook with shut up and eat it. Remember to always share your zuzus with the Grateful Dread, and dont eat the krishna cookies! Kick down to Nic at Night, and drink lotsa Montana Mud. Wake up early with the bird, then go hit the magic bowl. Always love your brothers and sisters, they're the only ones ya got, oh, and its your turn for a water run....
awwww man.. last summer i went to the national gathering.. it was my first gathering other than a regional one from when i was a baby that i dont remember... it was amazing though. The possibilities are limitless at a gathering. you will never be bored because there is always something going on. Drums beat in the distance dawn to dusk and dusk to dawn and everywhere you turn there is a friendly face welcoming you home. Money is taboo and you'll never se so many adults go so crazy over candy (zuzus). The spirit of peace, love, and comradship is all over and just being there gives you an overwhelming sense of harmony. You really feel at home and that if you try you can make a differnece. The gathering changed my percpective on life and opened my mind in so many ways! I cant wait until next summer!!!
what do you do at a gathering together we gather to gather together we share we care we celebrate eachother we work we play and hug all day we dance we sing we do anything with open hearts and open minds we come together in unity we chant our heartsong we sit in sillence as one we share our food and our love we lead ourselves with one voice we do whatever is our choice
"dont eat the krishna cookies" ut oh... I think I ate one once..... whats the low down? ha ha..... Mike....
are you certain about that? i believe thats a rumor based on the fact that they did it once at a free kitchen..i think in berkley or somewhere..and i thought they did it to try to control gang violence ..as a test thing at least i vaguely remember hearring something like that
Salt-peter (potassium nitrate) is a relatively common preservative used mainly in cured meats but is also a naturally occuring mineral. 90% of human consumption of it comes from eating root vegetable crops.
hahaha the krishna cookies!!! I was at "shut up and eat it" for most of the time. the pancakes at early bird were banging! Give a helping hand as much as you can. a brother or sister could always need help even if they don't ask!
