I am not saying that the womyn in this story is innocent, or that, in ANY way what she did was right or acceptable. She is, for all intents and purposes, a sex offender. BUT, in a country where the average male child molester gets 3 years or less for Aggravated Sexual Assault or out right RAPE of children, Nine years for an obviously sick womyn taking off her clothes is beyond the pale. A principal in the school where my children attended Middle School was fired to sexual harrassment (we were never told, we had to find out through teachers who were willing to talk) there were reports that this man had made lewd remarks to young girls, but he got no jail time. Like I said, the womyn is the story is WRONG WRONG WRONG, but I'd love to see the average jail time sentence for a male teacher who either does something like this, or even has sexual contact with children. Nine years.........she should have been given counseling and three or so years, to make it similar to male offenders.
Did she get multiple counts of sexual misconduct, since there were seven children there? That would make the longer sentence make sense at least... Frankly, rather than reducing her to 3 years, I would like to see this set the standard for the minimum that other offenders (male and female) face... Though I would be curious to see what the evidence is. It seems incredibly stupid to do something like that in front of 7 students at once. If it's entirely a matter of she says, they say, then there is always the risk that the children are lying -- it wouldn't be the first time that a group of children wrongly sent an adult to jail. And I feel really weird saying that, like I shouldn't post such a thing here, but the M.O. is just so out of the ordinary -- I thought most sexual predators limit their activities to times when they are not likely to get caught, so with only 1-2 victims at a time... With seven children seems like begging to get caught...
You would think so. It appeared she may not be mentally stable. So, of course, nine or more years in jail will be wonderful for her. (heavy sarcasm) I looked it up, and in most cases, PENETRATION of a child often results in a average of 72 months in jail. That's FOUR years, she got more than nine for indecent exposure.
The only statistics that matter would be those for the jurisdiction of south bend, indiana. All others are irrelevant in our legal system. p.s. 72 years = 6 years.
Thats disgusting.. she should get nine years..I think anyone that likes to prey on little kids or find them sexually attractive should get long jail sentencing. People like that disgust me! But I only hear of male pedophiles besides the "odd" cases of women pedophiles. Im sure there are plenty more, but I only ever hear about male usually.
I am sure that if a female offender makes lewd remarks to young boys, she would have been fired as well. If the principle stripped naked in front of his students and masturbated , then that would have caused him to serve 9 or more years in jail. The sad part is they are not rehabilitated after all this jail time. They come out even more screwed up, this sex offender will find herself again preying on children after she comes out of jail, it is a psychological problem that is not easily resolved.
And because she is incapable of penetration of a child ( she does not have the biological machinery) she is incapable of rape, therefore she should just get therapy right? and maybe after three or four years she screws up another kid, thats fine too.. then she should get only 3 years... because 4 yrs would mean that she has to penetrate the child.
She's ill, yes, but she didn't touch the children. Apparently no one knows why she did it or if she is aroused by children. I think she should have a psychiatric evaluation and receive treatment, not be locked up, which will do her no good.
Ya know, Jedi, I made a VERY CLEAR statment at the beginning of this that I certainly did NOT approve of what this person did, and that it was a crime. Yet, you have to take it off on a tangent with this silliness. My POINT WAS she committed indecent exposure, and that actual penetration of children often gets LESS jail time. And, FYI, womyn ARE capable of all sorts of penetrative sexual acts. This womyn was wrong. But the sentence was not appropriate to the severity of the crime, taking into account the light sentences many male sexual predators get. Yeah? Wanna find me a precedent for this, with sentencing? I'd love to see it. Also, the perp in this article didn't masturbate.
it's such a strange crime... she's 28, no criminal background, she's a teacher's aide and she does this during the regular teacher's lunch hour in front of seven kids, aged 11-15, at least some of whom are mentally disabled. I really hope she was actually caught by somebody else because I can imagine some kids who don't realize the severity of such accusations saying something mean about a teacher they don't like and being afraid of getting in trouble if they take it back... then again to have seven kids stick to their story for so long makes it seem more plausible. anyway, if it is actually true then i agree with those who say she needs therapy and not jail time.
Ha, you make a wild accusation about how criminal justice system is so harsh on women but not on men and then you ask me to prove that its wrong? when did you actually prove its right? Now, you want to know what I really think? I think women have it very easy in many cases especially when it comes to the criminal and justice system. My boss was a cop once, he told me cases where they would have to lock the man away because he fought off an attack by his wife, apparently, his wife attacked him with a kitchen knife and when he stopped her, the knife cut him and her, but they took him in because she accused him of attacking her, no one listened to the poor guy when he told them that she was attacking him. The guy was later released upon further investigation. Your complaints maggie are not really complaints at all, but accusations because there are no complaints to make, you finally found something that you can twist to sound like it was unfair , when it was really fair by the standards of American justice. Now , if you think they are wrong to put sex offenders in jail because they need "therapy" then I agree with you to some extent, but if you say "they don't lock up men that long, but they lock up women" , then thats just a big hoopla.
