I am enrolled in a midwifery course and it's very art orientented as my teacher feels hands on/visual learning works best.. I am really struggling however, as art is not my best subject. My projects are to: 1 )Show pregnancy through the babies eyes.. as in what the baby sees, smells, hears, etc I have NO idea how to do that !!!! 2) Make an artistic represenation of a cervical dilation from 1cm to 10cm.. that one is easier but does anyone have any media that they would recommend? Pleaseeee help me think of ideas !! I'm finding this really fun but I'm stumped, especially on the first one. I know there are so many possiblities, why can't I think of them !
I don't know about the second, but for the first you could sort of draw the world from a baby's perspective the moment he sees it. I imagine babies see things a lot differently than we do, so you could make its surroundings really surreal and colorful or something. I don't know much about this subject though, so sorry if this doesn't help at all. I'm a little confused about your assignment, but good luck anyway
I think it's more of what the baby see's/hears/etc in the womb rather than at birth, although if I did something that was progressive in time I could show both. I'm still totally stumped, thanks for the help though
1. does it have to be something to display to a class or can it be a more individualized experience for the viewer? for the first one I would think one of those gigantic bouncy balls that are always at supermarkets and toystores. I would take the biggest one i could find (hopefully large enough to fit a person into) cut it down the side, then place it in a shaded (possibly heated/ warm) area, also with speakers surrounding it with a dull murmer and heartbeats. If the bouncy ball doesn't work out maybe a bunch of bean bag chairs, something soft and squishy to sit into and close the eyes while listening to the heartbeat / murmer sound with a little space heater or something would be awesome. as for the dialation, I'd say a big wooden (or cardboard) box, as large as you can deal with, paint the inside dark, dark flesh tones, or even black. Then for the dilating thing, search online for something like those pullout books that kids play with, you know the pull tab types. Just find a setup on how to make something that can tighten and then un-tighten in a circle. Use that over a hole in the box and presto bammo you have the birthing of a child as seen from the inside (you could probably go really big with th hole if you wanted and have your classmates be born by walking through it. could be neat. Anyway, those are some ideas for you to work with. let us see what you make for it
well a baby is in water so mabey something to do with a water type picture also they have no light so mabey a dark picture?
