I know that someone has probably brought this up before, but what do you guys think the chances are of weed being legalized in America? And if you think it ever will be...what's your take on the time frame - legalization in the next 100 years, 50 years, 250 years, etc.?

I talked about this with my roomie and we think that medical mary jane will probably be legalized, but weed will probably never be FULLY legalized...at least not in our lifetime.

I think that weed will become decriminialized in the next 10-20 years.. Just gotta wait for the old generation of congress die off and are replaced with a new era, such as the 60's generation..

Marijuana will remain illegal as long as corporate corruption, government corruption, ignorance and mass hysteria still exist in America.

pot will be legal before you know it, and the world will be a more free place when that happens. imigen being able to light up a joint while sitting in a park right in the middle of town with no worries at all..........but that dosent mean people are allready doing that. pot will always be used by whoever wants it, whenever they they want it, and a law isnt gonna make it that much easier. however, when it is legal, there will be ruduced and or unnecesary violence between angry trafficers because youll be able to go get it at a liquor store. but dosent that take the fun out of a pot mission? o well. sometimes they get anoying. bottom line, america needs to realize there are people who use pot incorectly and people who use it the right way.i belive hippys understand and respect marijuana as it should be, its an herbal privilage and it should not be disrespected. next time you smoke out, keep in mind that the earth is hooking you up, so hook the earth up by picking up trash as you walk along in your enlightenment. ok sorry for rambling on i just needed to get that outta my system. peace

i dont know why everyone thinks its not going to be legalized...
it's already DECRIMINALIZED in 13 states in america... you only get a ticket for possesion of under an ounce, just like speeding or j-walking...
The potency of pot you can obtain i'm sure has gone up sinceu we have new technology and new growing methods, but i really think that the fact marijuana potency has increased by so much is just a D.A.R.E bullshit lie...
It's going to take time before pots legalized and it's going to be a slow process but it will happen, and almost definately in our life time.... what does it maatter if the THC potency goes up any? alcohol is legal, and you can get near 100% alcohol levels and that stuff FUCKS you up... and it's more dangerous then high thc levels....

"Slim to NONE". And "SLIM" just left town! Legalizing, will do TWO things. It will BALANCE the U.S. Budget, throught Taxes, and it will ELIMINATE the current Government structure. They'll NEVER allow either one to happen.

The day that weed becomes legalized everyone will be living in a post-apocolyptic world where there are no rules.

I saw a hilarious movie called Grass where people in the 1900's talked about how pot was giong to be legal soon. So yeah it dosn't look good, but then again Jimmy Carter almost decrimnalized it in all states, but then decided not to because he didn't want to look soft on drugs.

He didn't decide not to. The Chief Drug secretary got caught in a coke incident (Possibly framed up by the government) and after that, he COULDN'T appear soft on drugs and that is why it wasnt legalized.

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

Cannabis will become legal when the government admits to the world that they have lied numerous time to the american people and to the world. It requires an apology, new laws, and the loss of billions of dollars, which on the cannabis part cannot be taxed. Why whould i buy shitty commerc when i can grow my own for cheaper. However, all of marijuana's other uses (the other 24,950) can be taxed for industrial uses. That is the main reason it should be legal, imo. Not because its releltively harmless, but because it is such a valuable tool for industrial growth. But if we were to use industrial hemp for all of these resources it would destroy thousands of jobs. All the pharmatcutical companies, logging companies, cotton farms,...etc. Granted, some of these companies would switch to growing and processing cannabis for their product. Im sorry, but until there is a real revolution that changes the mind of the entire nation, it will not become legalized. All i see is decreminalization, in the next 30-35 years.

It is decriminalized in my state, Pennsylvania. =) You get fines for possession of weed or resinated paraphenalia, but if you really wanted to, you could walk up to a policeman with chinese-eye and go "check it out dude, I'm high" and he couldn't so much as search you because you said that (if my sources are correct).

I don't plan on marijuana being legal in my lifetime in the United States. The best thing everyone can do is to continue to write letters to their congressman and keep pressing and pressing for it to be on state ballots. Progress has been made, but I still think its a long way off. I'm just thankful that its readily available wherever I've lived in the US.

I highly doubt it will ever be legalized anytime in the near or distant future. One) the government like to supress fun in this county and two) they could never regulate the growers, meaning they wouldnt make money off it anyway.
