ok, so like half of my family has lice. my stupid little brother (not that little, hes 14) put a hat on that he found on the street (what a dumbass) and got lice from that. needless to say, my mom and my other brother have lice, so i felt that if i did get lice in my dreads(not really what they would be classified as, although i had a few nice ones coming in) that i didnt want to go through all the trouble to clean them, kill lice etc. so i cut it really short and whatnot. some people say its cute and "professional" looking. alot miss my hair. as do i. im in mourning at the moment. im sure ill get used to it. god damn that kid
Oh but hair grows out Just want to say though, that a family member getting lice doesnt mean you're doomed to get them too... at all. I got lice when i was like 8 years old from trying someone else's hat in school. I had long hair, my mum and sister as well, we shared brushes and hair accessories, but i didnt give it to anyone of them.
Getting lice out, if you get lice with dreads (or any other hairstyle) you can soak your hair in apple cider vinegar a few times. Some people just need to do their homework before they make such rash decisions.
y'know I was thinkin, since I've heard this soooo much lately, (twice in a week or so just up here) maybe we should put a sticky on the page for "Lice killing agents/remedies" or something like that. So many people think it's just the end, and don't even try. If we had a thread like that maybe people could post all the ideas they've used or heard used. Like ACV, like Annie said. I've also heard of using cayenne pepper, coffee grounds, or other really acidic type stuff, put on your head and covered with a shower cap for a couple of days. <-- Lol, that probably sounds like torture. The cat I know who did it swears by it, though, he got bugs at a gathering and did that while he was still out there in the woods, didn't have to make a single snip and the bugs bought the big one.
That's a good idea Humblebee...a sticky is probably what we need (although, I seem to always answer the same questions over and over anyway)... Chemical lice killers are TERRIBLE for your skin AND the environment. People with "normal" hair shouldn't even use that stuff...
not only that but my school was making a huge deal out of my hair and i didnt want to piss them off anymore, cause iv been getting in lots of trouble at school, mainly with marijuana and all that good stuff
Uh yeah, but maybe you wouldn't get singled out if you didn't do dumbass stuff at school to get you into trouble in the first place.... *ahem* No offense
I know this is a sad post about cutting off locks due to lice, but I posted this a little earlier in a blow drying thread. My sister-in-law is a pharmasist and she and a doctor did a head lice research project and found that blow drying on high heat for 7 days in a row will get rid of head lice as long as you take care of the whole house as well. and blow drying can also prevent head lice as well, because concentrated heat kills head lice. such as blow dry and clothes dryer. things in plastic bags out in the sun for days. etc...just a little knowledge I picked up...thought people would want to know since really it is chemical free and not hard to do.
Mhm.. now it strikes me i remember I read about some "new spctacular method" to kill lice, some months ago, which was like a blowdryer except it generated much larger volumes of warm air than usual blowdryers. Or something. So yeah. I'd try it.
You should've used eythl ether... I that would surely kill them all... Like get a whole bottle full and damp you hair in that shit... Man your hair well dry and clean itself, and maybe loose some braincells. But hey you get high, and you kill all the lice and you dont have to dry. That stuff would dry up so fast... Did you do it yourself?
