Someone said, "I don't get Christianity. You know, Jesus as God, Son of God, Messiah? What does that mean? And how is crucifixion religious?"

I don't know if I have an answer that explains all of it. But I do think it all depends on what God is, or rather, how one considers the nature of the divine, or even more simply, what awareness or capacity of thought does one bring to the question.

It seems everyone has a (more or less) different idea about all of this.

These days, I am thinking more and more about the relationship between a human being and his (or her) thoughts and how that relationship affects everything: beliefs, behavior, desires, health and prosperity and the meaning of one's life, both personally and universally. It seems a human is ruled by his (or her) thoughts.

    What do you think?

well forst of all no one ever said that crucifixion was religious christians use the crusifixion as something to remember how jesus gave his life to forgive the sins of everyone here on earth and to open up heaven to the spirits that have died before him. the other part is a little more complicated it is the three parts to god the father as god the son as jesus and the holy spirit as well the holy spirit all of them are seperate but one at the same time it is a hard concept to accept but you need to have faith in god to belive it and just wait untill you are in the kingdom of god and ask him your self lol. i do belive that a human is rulled by his or her thoughts but it is god who is alowing us to think those thoughts not directly though i belive he gives us the ability for us to be grat and think great things it is just up to us to actualy think and act on those feelings this is what makes the accomplish so great because we know that god is backing us up but we stil suceeded on our own and we accomplished it ourselves like a teacher the teacher gives us all the oppertunity to be great we just have to take them up on there offer we do this in christianity by accepting god in our lives once we do that nothing we do can be less than great because we have god with us

Yep, that's the conclusion I came to after spending years trying to wear the cloak of Christianity. The thing is: the doctrines of Christianity didn't match up with anything I had experienced or the way I thought about the world.

I remember fighting with my ex about this notion after seeing a movie called "What the #%$^ do we know?" or something like that...can't remember the movie name. He went so far as to say you can control the world by not reacting to pain and such, which I think is extreme and unhealthy: sometimes you need to emotionally react; you just need to cry or grieve.

But generally, I agree that how you think completely affects the world. Now that I have taken up the practice of yoga, and also the reading of Buddhist texts, I am balanced, so I can go out into the world and help as much as I can to alleviate the suffering of others since my mind and body are now yoked in harmony...MUCH more than they ever were when I believed in Jesus of Nazareth as the only savior.

    Thanks for your posts.

I think it works like this. What you think reality is will dictate how you behave.

On one level or another, everyone is involved in a relationship with everyone else. Even if it is little more than just sharing time on the planet. If you believe it is an enlightened garden of Tzaddiks, Saints and Bodhisattvas (or at least, could be), then you will probably behave with delight and respect and curiosity and maybe even creativity. If everyone acted this way, then this world we in which you and I live would be transformed into something unimaginably better.

On the other hand, if you think reality is a dark, foreboding place, populated by terrorists and criminals and other dangerous people then you would probably always fear a dark, foreboding danger. In preparing to defend yourself against whatever you think you fear, you would probably behave in a way that led others to expect the same from you. If everyone acted your way then the whole world would become a dark, foreboding, dangerous place. No one would trust anyone else and all relationships would suffer, since everyone would likely hoard whatever good they would usually share with others. Sadly, some people believe in that vision of reality today.

Of course, these are two extremes. There is ample evidence to prove whatever beliefs you may hold concerning the nature of reality. If one accepts a better possibility, no matter how small, then unimaginably good change happens. If one actively lives (despite any acts of the fearful, no matter how destructive) according to the idea that this world of ours could become an enlightened garden of Tzaddiks, Saints and Bodhisattvas, then . . .

    Peace and Love
