I saw the movie first and thought it was good, but after reading the book, the movie just seemed to be missing so much. If say I had to choose between which one could exist and which one couldn't, I would choose the book by far.
Yeah I read the book twice, back to back in about 7 days, it was really good. I dont do that often with books unless theyre really, really good.
I voted both because i red the book first and definetly dug it, but the movie was trippy, i appreciate both.
I haven't read the book but I love the film. I've wathced it twice - once ages ago and once more recently (after having spent a lot of time doing drama). Both times I loved it and the second time I was just blown away by how damn well it was directed. I kept on thinking, how amazing it would be to be an actor working with Stanley Kubrick.
i had read the book about a dozen times before i ever saw the movie the movie was better then most when compared tothe book but i still hadta vote for the book just cause probly seen the movie 3-4 times and the 3rd or 4th just failed to hold my interest while the book really did 12 times (but i was young at the time i read it)
I read the book first and the movie just couldn't compare. I adore Kubrick - he's my favorite director. But A Clockwork Orange has always been one of my least favorite Kubrick films simply because it was a big let down after the book. The music was great and the photography was great, but the best part of the book (hilarious narration by Alex) was obviously quite shortchanged in the film, and the pace really lagged once he got put in jail. Best Kubrick films: Dr. Strangelove, 2001, Barry Lyndon, Eyes Wise Shut
the book is killin the movie by far. i stole the book from a local bookstore at the mall and read it in a day... i loved it so much more than the movie...
I've read the book twice and it makes more sense than the movie... But I saw the movie first and it helped visualize the book...so I love it also
I read the book first, then saw the movie... The book is amazing because of the way words are used; I had never read anything like it before. The movie is of course amazing and one of my favorites, but in some ways it fails to capture the aim and the feeling of the book.
Recently in the UK the Guardian, or one of those newspapers gave away the book free with its paper, but I was massively disappointed because I thought it was going to be the original by Burgess, infact it was merely a dumbed down re-edited version for todays masses. The original book was good - read it about 20 years ago - the givaway book with the newspaper was not as good - but the film was the best as it really went beyond the book and the visual imagery was even more artful than Burgess imagined it
Both are amazing. The book's a masterpiece and so is the movie. I don't know if I could choose which is better.
