Is there such a thing as a fast acting decongestant? I can't stand it. I'm breathing thru a bubble.

If you know of one are there any side effects?

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Mix a cup of lukewarm water with a teaspoon of non iodized salt... put it in a tea cup....in one nostril and itll come out the other.... it's called "neti"- you can look it up on line if you want.

Other then that, I like benedryl.

I took a sudafed this morning and it did nothing. I took another one 3 hours ago and my nostrils are sligtly opening but could close at any second. Very delicate matter.

I might try the wash. It sounds like a saline mixture.

Thank you both for your suggestions. :)

In the drain, it works well if you mix it with some napalm.

I was using afrin and I think that has caused some of the reason why this situation hasn't cleared itself up. I think I've prolonged my recovery into a clear sinus.

    I appreciate the suggestion.

    peppermint or eucolyptus essential oil
1 drop on sunuses where u feel the pressure..1 drop under nose
even topicaly on chest for chest congestion
it will make everything flush out quick and stay open

adding pepermint tea will give ya a longer lasting but more general effect

the oils very very strong so use carefuly especialy near eyes

neti pots suposed to work too but snorting salt water up my nose is such an unconfortable thing for me i cant do it
but the pepermint works good and very fast

alitte of either in bathwater and or a humidifyer type thing can be helpful as well

Thank you so much for your advice.

I actually bought peppermint leaves today and had Eucoluptus oil in my hand but put it back. The peppermint leaves are for the horrible taste in my mouth from all the sinus drainage. Gross I know.

I think the second sudafed I took at lunch today was a good kicker. I'm breathing and blowing. :)

yea, i use sudafed - usually pop 2-3 of them

though, a rigorous work-out works reall well too, just having everthing flowing out of the nose

the leaves are good, but nowhere near as powerful as the oil
however chewin em and tea and put em in water & stuffs definately good

another thing i do when i get a flu or anything..a stir fry, with alotta hot peppers//but i like spicy.. but they will burn all that right outta ya...
i like alotta garlic & 3-4 or so kinds of hot peppers.. as much as ya can stand...or..even cayane water
yea thats goot shit too.. like a teaspoon or so of cayane pepper in a 2 liter bottle of water..sip it all day..ya can keep addin water to dilute it all day

Benadryl does do wonders. Sudafed had the decongestants(pseudoephedrine), but Benadryl that plus and antihistamine & acetaminophen...

...but like soaring mentioned, a bowl of spicy food kicks the shit out of stuffed sinus' too...gotta love capsican.

I am not much of a spicey food eater. My salsa is medium. That's as spicey as I get.

I can't take anymore sudafed tonight or I'll never sleep. It tires me during the day but keeps me up at night. (I know I've got a slew of problems. lol) :nopity:

2-3 at a time Fitzy? You function okay? I'd have the shakes like a mad woman.
