This is for anyone who is growing or has grown salvia; just to shed light and share any experiences while growing salvia divinorum. My plant is in a 12" clay pot which sit on top of a couple of wooden blocks which sits over a drip pan. I fed a polyester rope through it (http://www.iamshaman.com/salvia/growing.htm), and it stays pretty moist inside the humidity tent. Her leaves haven't gotten very wide, but rather are thinner and more dark than photos I have seen. They still have the silvery looking veins running through them, so I was wondering what more I should do. Now that we're in the colder months, she's growing somewhat slow. Any help is appreciated.
Well you will appreciate this post. http://designer-drugs.com/pte/12.162.180.114/dcd/chemistry/salvia.divinorum.growers.guide.html thats the HTML for an online version of the salvia divinorum growers guide (THE book on growing salvia) Now what I did for mine, was I took it out of the humidity tent for a day, and it wilted to hell, dont do that, instead take your tent and open it at the top. I had a bag so I just cut along the top of the bag, and left it open, and misted inside it with a spray bottle every so often. After about 1 week of this, expose it to more and more dry air, and just mist it 2 or 3 times a day. You should be able to take it out of the tent, mines doing great with 2-3 daily mistings and the humidity in here is 53%, i've got no wilting, but some leaf curling, but I had a caterpillar attack and all the curled leaves have holes in them, so i cant tell if its due to humidity, or injury. Now this week I've started putting a lamp right beside it, about 6 inchs away. The lamp has an energy save bulb, those curly fluorescent ones, soft white. It does wonders for the leaves and stem, but it doesnt do much for the roots (emits more blue than red light) so I have it by the window so it gets sunlight all day, as much direct sunlight as possible, because the suns so weak up here right now, that I dont think its getting too much light as of yet.
