I'm a freshman in college, and I started smoking weed occasionally my senior year in high school. Once I got to college, I was smoking every day, multiple times per day. I stopped smoking a couple of times for about two days, but both times it seemed like forever. I had social anxiety disorder for about 8 years, and I broke out of it last week after going through a period of severe confusion and depression. Right before I broke out of it, weed was starting to get me really depressed, but I didn't even mind that much since I could feel my social anxiety disorder being relieved. After I recovered from social anxiety disorder, I didn't have any motivation to smoke, because I was having fun just living life. But then I decided to toke again to see how I'd feel, and I noticed that my anxiety came back and I didn't feel like myself while I was high, which never happens to me. The next day, I felt fatigued, and I got anxious again in the middle of the day. That night, in addition to the anxiety, I felt angry for no apparent reason and I had a desire to smoke again to calm my nerves. Could marijuana have triggered my anxiety disorder again or am I experiencing some type of withdrawal?

hmmm its possible it triggered it again, ive never experoenced any sorta withdraw at all from weed
i supose also though that just establishing a mental connection between the anxiety and the act of smoking could trigger it as well wether or not the thc itself efffects it at all either way

idk you probably shouldnt smoke weed dude, if it gets you like that when you havent had a smoked.. i wouldnt smoke it, some people as sad as it seems are not meant to smoke weed, did you have any serious incidents as a kid like watching someone die or see something intense like that, if so that may have caused your anxiety, i suffer from anxiety too but fortunatly it does not interfeer with my mind when i smoke. if this does not make sense its probably because i am high.

haha dude, it's all good, I didn't experience anyone die or anything like that.. Anyway, I generally love smoking weed, and it hasn't caused me any problems until now, which is part of why I'm concerned... it still might not be the bud, but I'm not sure.

marijuana can and more then likly trigger problems with anxeity, i have problems with general and social anxiety, and quit smoking because it has become a problem, psycholoical problems and weed generaly dont go well together, try smoking again when your clam and if the feeling comes back then make up your mind if you want to stop smoking or not, give it some time if you get your anxiety under control then try smoking again and see what happens

I know right, i hate when people come on here asking others what they should do with THEIR life..jeez. You know whats best for you, your not going to get the right answers from comlete strangers who know nothing about you.

why did you take the two or so day breaks? did you feel like their was a reason not to be smoking? maybe you felt guilty for smoking when you did get high?

i went through something similar a while back. i had wanted to quit smoking weed, but being the stoner that i am, did not. when i did get high though, i just felt crappy and anxious sort of. just wait til the negative feelings subside until you toke again. good luck brother.

smokindude, he's not asking anyone to tell him what to do, or to run his life, he is simply asking if anyone can help him out with something he is confused about- there is nothing wrong or stupid about asking for other opinions.

scho, cannabis is a psychedelic and can affect you differently each time (as i am sure you know). Your mind is very complex, and life is wild. Emotions and thoughts can change by day, and if right now in your life you feel that smoking herb isn't conducive to living the life you want, then take a break. Down the road you will most likely feel cool smokin again, could be a week could be a year....

    Good luck sorting it out

There is a lot of difference between people. Some people can smoke all day and still dig it. Others cannot. I, like you, smoked a lot of pot at one time. Too much. It began to make me wiggy. I eventully quit altogether for a long time and now rarely do it. Some of us are just not equipped for it. Nothing wrong with that. Sounds like you've smoked yourself out buddy. Probably time to cut loose or way back anyway. Once a week or once a month or once a year or never again. Whatever works for you. Don't keep making yourself unhappy. That's not what it's for.

Yes, actually. The definition of psychedelia is the expansion of the mind. I'm sure you would agree that weed expands your mind; therefore, it is psychedelic.

If you are asking advise on what to do, I think ^^^ gave yourself a big hint.

If you are asking a clinical question about the effect of marijuana, yes it does alter mood.

Yes, but who is to say what expands your mind, anything could. Someone who gets a kick out of eating chocolate for instance, that could expand his mind. But anyways.. psychedelics are of any hallucinogenic substance, weed not being one of them.

Psychedelic doesn't necessarily = hallucinogenic, or vice versa. I consider weed to be purely psychedelic. The zoning out, the free-flowing thoughts, the slight visuals.......all of these are present when I smoke weed, which, to me, screams psychedelia.

We could debate this all day though, as we all have different definitions of what constitutes a psychedelic experience.

Yeah if i were you i'd definitly stop for good. This has happened to me, but instead of stopping like i should have i just kept right on smoking and ended up having a fucking seizure! The seizure was calsed by an extreme panic attack right before the seizure. It sucks major balls and i haven't been the same since. I've been having serious panic attacks a lot. I can't take any drug besides benzos (which i only take to calm my nerves) without getting really sick. Even sugar makes me sick. I've also had social anxiety my whole life, and did noticed that weed makes it worse ever since i started, but ignored it like a jackass. Now there's no telling how long i'm going to be like this. Maybe forever.

Trust me, you don't want to go there. You're experiencing the same symptoms that i did at first. I'd advice you to quit for good now! Also quit any other drug that does this to you. It will make your life a living hell!
