overpopulation makes resources scarce, resulting in a global conflict on how the resources should be distributed. and not everyone will get a piece.
people will be forced to revert back to old ways of doing things. making their own clothes. making their own food, (hunting, or growing their own crops) find new means of transportation. most people will die when wal-mart no longer has anything to sell. and the people will fight each other for their goods.
eventualy government will step in, but that would make things worse before they get better. america has too many enemies as it is. nobody would really help us, and this nation is no longer self suffient enough to carry on without foriegn oil or other products. just imagine everything in your home that says "made in china" on it, or korea or taiwan, gone. no more. what would you do without electricity? running water? in the next hundred years these things as we know them will be gone
i think that world war 3 will not be nation agaist nation, but neighbor vs. neighbor on a global scale. thoughts?

I thought we are already having World War three? The War on Terror.

Terrorism is everywhere. Therefore it is global and it takes the countries to unite and fight against terrorism so therefore this is a world war. We have had two world wars and now this is the third. There are more to come and London bombings were not the last.

    LOL

You guys need to read some history
There were more terrorist bombing 'each year' in the 80's than from
    2000 to 2006

The 'war on terror' is an excuse

not weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, nor some kind of religeous mumbo jumbo but the use of combustion to generate energy and propell transportation, an out of control 'thermal runaway' if you will, of human population, and loss of natural habitat, the consiquences of these things, which are all arround us already, are the major sources of risk and challange to humanity's future.

(and the 'tec' side of solving them is proven and well established, not a utopian fantasy at all, but a matter of being more honest with ourselves about what need to become priorities and policies. wind, solar, micro-hydro, human/small scale flanged wheel on 'steel' rail. decentralized 'universal' cogeneration. nonforest product structural elements in construction. living succinct. accepting that there ARE natural limits. accepting the responsibility to dicipline ourselves and our lifestyles to them. including general reduction in total human fertility).

I say along with the camp I and hopefully other young hippies. want to put together, that we dig a big ass shelter like 100's of feet under the ground, and bring animals to breed, and a shitload of seeds of different plant life, and once everyone kills eachother above, we go up and rebuild the earth and live under a hippie government and repopulate the earth...sound good? GGGGGRRREEEEAAAAAAAAATTTTT

I'm doing the same thing, I've even got the hole dug for a pre-fabricated fall-out shelter I'm having installed with a built-in air and water filtration system, and with enough emergency rations and canned foods to last a year [IMG]

World war 3 has already begun. After the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall it was clear the new methods of war are economical. Globalisation is the new weapon much more destructive than a nuclear bomb. Who needs powerful weapons today, when AIDS, misery and famine kill thousands (may be millions) every day?

We all die, war or no war, so it doesn't really matter. I'd even say, the sooner the better.

I have to agree with all of you, except "hailtothekingbaby"
George W. has brought us and the rest of the world into a situation that will take years, if not decades to recover from.
At present we enjoy being on the grid, telephone, INTERNET, cable TV, a continuous heating system.
Be for Y2K we set our home and selfs to operate without all of the above.
We do not live in an area where fallout is a concern. We have a low population, with only one road in and out.
We hunt, fish and garden. Can heat and cook with wood. Our pantry looks like Costco.
I am blown away at city dwellers who depend on a daily trip to the store to put food on the table. Maybe 3 days worth in the kitchen. Water, how much do you have stored ? We have a back up hand-pump.
Guess I'm one of those crazed survivalist. But I've gotten used to eating on a regular basis..

Maybe the universe is collapsing in on itself and although we have no way to know it, it is felt by all of us. The universe is getting smaller, so there is less space and there are less resources available for all of us. Technology can't develop methods to replenish "Natural" resources quickly enough. When there is less to go around people fight for what they need.

As far as the war on terrorism, I believe Bin Laden and Al Quada are the ones waging that one.

    WWKCD729,

At least you could be original. Charles Manson said much the same thing close to 40 years ago.

The you are very stupid. America has many faults, but Islam is the threat that we face now, not America. If you'd read books on Islam then you'd realise just how stupid you sound.
