Hi there, I'd like to post a quick question about a light that I could possible use for growing... It is 4 inces across and has a pretty small bulb, but produces a decent ammount of light due to the reflecting foil-like substance inside. It doesn't produce heat that much heat going down and I think it may be 30 watt... Would this work alright for a light pointing at the side of a plant?
Hi Colimon - I'd say it's way too little light to produce good bud. You will probably be able to keep a plant living under it, and get it into flowering when 12/12, but you will not make any decent bud - it's just way too little light. Buy something a little bigger, that will be well worth the money. It's a minor investment compared to what you'll get. Consider it a little hobby. You'd happily pay 200$ for a good surfboard, because it'll make surfing more fun - your lamp is exactly the same. You'll have fun with a 250w hps or maybe just 6 36w fluorscent under a shelf. Hope i guided you in a better direction. Don't waste your time on that small bulb - won't be the electricity worth in bud.
