I have been helping this older woman who lives in the park by my work. I work in downtown St.Louis and she is so scared living down there. there are lots of dangerous and scary people where she sleeps. i got her a cover and i have been trying to find her a good place to go she tried the homeless shelter. it wasnt a good experience, she needs more help then i can give her alone. i think that either she needs a ride to a place that is more homeless friendly or a place she can be untill she can get a job and a place. any ideas please post back i will check often. thank you all. Hi, I am in St. Louis as well. Is there a reason the homeless shelters did not work out for her. I found this site that will hopefully help out. It is beginning to get way too cold here for anyone to be sleeping in the park. Let me know if I can help more...... Cliff
Thank you i wrote down the number (8025444) and the name of some that might help her. she tried the life ministry shelter and one in illinous but i dont know the name of it. she said that the 1st one she tried she had to sighn a waver giving up her right to do anything if she got hurt. she said that not only did she get attacked by another person there but also she said that the staff was abusing patiants. but i don;t know i guess they were to scarry for her. but maybe this metro ministries for women will be beter. i hope it all goes well. ur right it is too cold out there for her to be in keener plaza on a bench. lovin you
I met a guy that lives over in Illinous and he said that this people got him a hotel for a week so he is going to go with her (Rose) and talk to the people. hopefully it works that way she can get cleaned up and go out and aply for jobs. thanks for the help,
You wouldn't want to spend too much time in a shelter. They are filthy and dangerous. I guess if you were desperate it would do, but many homeless people prefer to stay in the freezing cold rather than go to a crowded dingy shelter. If somebody has the money to put up to get her a hotel room for a while, more power to you. God bless the old lady you are caring for, and I hope she gets through the winter.
forrestspirit; that is what she said. she told me that just to get into a shelter here you have to sign a waver, and i am not into that. she said that one night it was so cold that she did she came out of that night with bruses. she told me never again. but i haven't seen her in 4 days. hopefuly this other program my friend told her about worked cus she told me that she would find me if it didn't thank you again i will write more if she comes to visit me again and this all went wronge. hard living in keener plaza on christmas with out family. loving you all thank you cales
