Whats the deal with this idea that Mexico has shitty weed? Has anyone ever had a shitty sack, and had extensive knowledge that that particular bag came from Mexico? The country has the ideal climate for growing pot, and youd think they would take at least some pride in growing the stuff.
well when u grow such a huge ammount of weed, you cant take attention to every detail. basically its like a fast food restaurant, if they can get more weed out faster and ultimately make more money, why not do it? it takes less time to produce shitty weed (shorter flowering period, shorter curing etc.)
^^^You CAN choose to pay close detail, but they don't. But often they don't because of the profit you mentioned. Yes, I've smoked some of the shittiest weed in my life that came from mexico. I know this because I knew the guy who drove it up from mexico. There is some well grown buds, but a lot of what is transported into the US that is grown in Mexico is shitty weed. A very high percentage of the weeds caught by border patrol is nothing more than shitiest of shit ditch weed.
weather doesnt really have alot to do with it, some of the best weed can be grown in near artic conditions..weed can grow very well in any climate alot probly just has to do with poor growing practices as well as growing the cheapest easiest strains..high yeild but low potency
It's a combination of all of the above. STRAIN The growers in Mexico choose stains that are hardy, able to produce maximum yield despite drought, little fertilizer, etc. At the expense of quality. QUALITY CONTROL A lot of MJ grows in Mexico are "mom and pop" operations. There might be 4 or 5 people working many acres. They don't have the time to cull the male plants before the females are pollinated. STORAGE After harvest the plants are usually hang-dried and stripped then pressed into 1-kilo bricks, then stored for months in a barn. TRANSPORTATION Pot is smuggled into the U.S. quite often under adverse conditions--heat, dampness, stuffed in a spare tire, hidden in crates of legit produce, etc. MORE STORAGE Once it gets in this country it gets stored once again. TRANSPORTATION PT II Once it gets across the border, it is further transported, again under poor conditions, sometimes all the way to NY. MORE STORAGE Once it gets to a certain location it is again stored until deals are cut & mid-level people lined up. But the MAIN REASON lots of pot from Mexico is crummy is because people continue to buy it. Some consumers confuse quality with quantity. As long as people pay $60.00/oz. for crap, it will continue to be around. There are certain area's of Mexico (and central America) that are known for growing GREAT MJ. Acapulco Gold is one of my 3 all-time favorites. A much better strain, more attention to cultivation, but it still suffers the rigors of transportation & storage.
Even in Arizona... herb from mexico is no good. So it has a lot to do with how its grown and a lot less to do with the distance it is transported. Tucson is not far from the border at all and pounds of nasty schwag roll thru on a daily basis. On another note while in the mountains near Oaxaca (when the area was not getting the shit shot out of it by the Mexican government) I managed to get a 1/4 of some excellent herb.
