As long as they're female the future bright, all the events listed seem to be the background for every generation.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. :)

well two children on my road aged 3 and 5 were murdered last night, friends of my nephew and the family are friends of my sister...its a horrid world we live in and i am wanting to bring children into it less and less. it seems each year the world falls apart even more

I have hope that the young ones that are growing up right now are learning from our mistakes...and they will be the leaders in the future....it will get better .

Alas I think people thought that at the time of the Vietnam war too. I could say one can only hope, but that would be defeatist. One can do more than hope, one can struggle and fight to affect change. These struggles persist across the planet, and for all the set backs, there are small victories. If people who care sit back and do nothing, then the future will be bleak. But if people stand up, they can make a difference. I'm not optimistic about a positive future. But I am optimistic about the potential of people to make change happen....

it seems that trying to change things for the greater good in the world is really difficult and that being selfish is really easy

Dunno - i think it still exists in small pockets, - there are alot of factors though - I mean the church and the church hall used to be the main place for people in a village to meet not so long ago - even if they werent particularly religious. Now it seems only to be the pub.But I think thats also partly to do with the invention of universities because not many people of my generation that I know of live in the places they were born and many places especially rustic are slow to accept newcomers.recently started working at a school and have felt more a part of a community than ever, strangely enough. Also - this may sound kind of stupid - but houses and housing was different - now you are less likely to walk into a house where people gather round the fire in the kitchen, talking. So many rented properties abandon the idea of having anwhere communal - and without those places people are less likely to communicate because you are not likely to go knocking on a strangers door. The few things left like bonfire night, parades, football matches still bring people together but its not exactly on a regular basis.I went out for a walk with my landlord and his dog the other day which actually felt really strange after a year of living here. But - why should it? Also - instead of having Sports TV or whatever in pubs they used to have pianos so everyone would do the ol sing song thing - aswell as singing in church.people singing together can rouse a great spirit I think and we don't do it enough.I try to busk songs from different cultures so as not to be exclusive cos lets face it in the present cosmopolitan climate - its easy to be - but well - it aint easy

Just an awareness that liberation has occured for them, opportunities exist now that in my youth didn't. I am raising two little ladies and feel confident about the world they can grow into. I also have a son but feel less sure of the world for him.

We can all influence the people around us perhaps to behave in a more positive manner but with age I'm finding it more difficult to believe in any ability to influence the authorities.

While there are always blips in crime rates and always tragic incidents it's important to recognise that we generally live in a very safe country, we're extremely unlikely to be killed or the victim of violent crime. Medical advances mean that if we get a disease we can get it treated (for free!), we're living longer than we ever have, we have an exceptionally free, fair and tolerant society.

I don't think you can really say that things are "falling apart". Every generation seems to think that, but it's just not true.

The future is bleak. Everything will become privatised and everything will be mega expensive. It is not worth living for. So the future will be negative. In the 2080's, there will be World war four. Finally all the countries with nuclear weaponry will use it against each other. Why do you think no one has destroyed nuclear?
