As you've suggested who can I know who I am, unless I answer the question what am I.

I am an animal posing as a highly evolved sentient being, who is forced by law and the will of society to suppress my baser instincts - I'm living a lie

Emotions shouldn't be suppressed, they should be allowed to run free

Good lady of firelit spontaneous music fests,
Would that be true I would be a much happier human, however for more circuits of this spaceship earth, around yon fusion furnace in space we so quaintly call the sun, wonder, has been much to little in my experience. This I intend to change, as has been said though, the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

For what you said here, and elsewhere in this thread, I thank you. I found your second comment caught my full attention.

I am intensely curious as to what made you say that, it was a very astute observation. I can only hope that I can sufficiantly overcome what I have come to regard as a distinct lack of social skills, and a confounded difficulty in communicating what it is I"m trying to say, in a way that it is understandable to people who haven't spent nearly ten years formally, and near 38 years generally looking into the nature of being. If my academic career had not been rudely interupted, I would be doing full time research into the nature, and potential of consciousness. One of the few events of profound wonder that I have known was when I finally got a mental image of the process by which we have the ability to introspect, at the neurological level. Truly it is the most wonderous, and elegant things I have ever "seen", total slack jaw amazement. We are bound and we need to be freed, for once freed, we may claim our birthright, and live in exotic, essential wonder, far more than we do today. So yes good lady I am all about heading somewhere, but I am not about doing it alone. So I come here looking for like minds, minds that are discontent, minds that are striving for some way other than what they inheirantly perciieve as wrong, which is the way of the establishment. Why?
For united we stand, hand in hand, hearts open to love, minds open to different ways, people open to change. I can only continue to hope, that despite my several ineptitudes I may yet get the whole message out.
Take good care good lady, fare thee well and wonder-full.

"O, what a world of unseen visions and heard silences, this insubstantial country of the mind! What ineffable essences, these touchless rememberings and unshowable reveries! And the privacy of it all! A secret theater of speechless monologue and prevenient counsel, an invisible mansion of all moods, musings, and mysteries, an infinite resort of disappointments and discoveries. A whole kingdom where each of us reigns reclusively alone, questioning what we will, commanding what we can. A hidden hermitage where we may study out the troubled book of what we have done and yet may do. An introcosm that is more myself than anything I can find in a mirror. This consciousness that is myself of selves, that is everything, and yet is nothing at all - what is it?
And where did it come from?
    And why?"

    - excerpt from the introduction to The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind

This is just the begining of a tale of wonder and majik like none other ever told, for herein lies the answer to how the majik may be ours.
    Interested?
