If one does not go to vote out the greater of the evils holding political positions then nothing will change. Keeping the greater of the evils in office is dangerous because the more power evil wins, the more powerful that evil becomes, the greater mistakes that evil could make. Sometimes once a mistake has been made, one cannot go back to the time before the mistake. Seems the best option would to deal with a slight evil compared to a huge one.

Of course the idealistic option is to vote for a candidate because that person believes that he or she will do the best possible job in that position, compared to keeping the worse of the options out of office.

ETHER WAY VOTE, OR IN THE END, YOU CANNOT COMPLAIN, BECAUSE YOU DID NOTHING TO STOP IT.

Do you really think your votes count? In my opinion i'd say "they" decide who's the president.

And no matter who wins, in my opinion they're all corrupt, and being controlled by the people behind the curtain. You don't change things by voting. That's what they want you to do. See all this "vote or die" campaign crap? Obviously they want you to vote, and usually what the government wants you to do isn't good. Am I correct?

So I say screw it to voting, and change things the old way. Protesting, speaking your voice, and showing your support. Not trying to get some corrupt puppet president to do it.

    Exactly.

    Voting here is purely symbolic.

y'know, the reason such a protest movement existed in the 60s was that unnder 21 could not vote. they could be drafted if male and hale, but not vote.
Sadly youth involvement since then has dropped to low levels.

So "they" (whomever that responsibility absolving boogeyman might be) might decide bogger elections by hook and by crook, but what about the school district needing more cash, or the libtrary, or domestic partnership in Colorado, OR LEGALIZING POSSESSION OF AN OUNCE OF POT? (hell yah I voted for that today)
calling all elections corrupt is a fucking cop out. And you DESERVE what you get.

Funny though how big a deal urging people to vote seems to be here, whereas when us Canuckians had our big ol' election the only talk about it really happened in the Canada forum, where, y'know, it should be  c'est la vie.

I'm sorry. I didn't realize I said every electoral thing was corrupt, and that your vote didn't matter. Sometimes it may matter. Like voting in your community, for laws to be passed, or not passed. But the bigger of the voting like for the president. Your vote dosen't count. "They" decide who is the next president. Also I deserve what I get? What might that be?

And isn't my right not to vote, so don't tell me to vote. I'll do what I want because this country is free, is it not?

The thing says you're 17, so unless that's a lie, you have no right to vote at all.

For the rest, if you think your opinion isn't worth expressing, who knows, you may be right.

    Peace,

I suppose you Mr. Poor old dad, and Drummin mama believe everything that's in text. I guess that's why you believe most of your voting really counts too. Ohh so naive, yet so old. Shouldn't you two be wise?

I could be 18. I could be 17. I'm not going to say, because I don't want to. Mainly to hopefully piss you off.

Hopefully you two can agree that some things you vote on don't really matter, because "they" control it. I mean how the hell can you call yourself hippies if you conform to what the government wants you to do!?!? Obviously they want you to do it, because they have all this pro-voting propaganda.

    Jesus.....

First let me say that I am neither qualified nor authorized to speak for Drumminmama. But if you think anything as meaningless as your age will piss anyone off, you're just as wrong as you are about the rest of that crap you said.

Wow actually the rest of the "crap" I said isn't wrong.

It's my opinion on the government. You can't prove that voting matters, nor can I prove that it dosen't. Therefore me, and you are neither right, or wrong. It can all only be an opinion.

    What an ass.

Proposals like these are one of the primary reason why we should vote.

Poor old dad hasn't showed me that voting counts.

Drummin I don't care if the voting age is 21, or 18 I wouldn't vote either way, and if I didn't want to go to war, and I was drafted I wouldn't. They couldn't make me, unless they physically picked me up, and made me.

I would of liked to go to war. Though I can't, because i'm red-green color blind.

Dirk Pitt. The "results" show me nothing.
