    sooooo....

    bad news and good news

bad news first, my finger somehow made its way under the needle while my sewing machine was running and it went thru the finger, all the way out of the fingernail. sucked, it was probably one of the sickest things i have ever seen, i had to pull my figner back off because it was stuck, now i cant feel anything with that finger, probably should have went to the doctor for a tetanus shot but ehhhh cant afford it

anywhoo, now i know my sewing machine will sew thru anything HAHA

but I am friggin hard core, i sucked it up and am still sewing even tho i cant move the finger much HAHA i can finally move it enough to kinda half assed type with it today!!

and people think sewing isnt a dangerous job, i been stabbed.... by a sewing machine!!

I've done that. unless you sew leather, I'd not be TOO concerned with the shot.

OUCH MAMA! That's about all I can say!
I almost did that once...but instead, my finger went up and down with the needle and got caught in the thread cutter or something. It hurt...but not as much as that! Every time I sew, I see that happening...scarry to know that it actually could.

That sounds painful. I hope your finger heals fast.
I've always been afraid of impaling my fingers with the the needle.

    yikes, that sounds absolutely painful.

I've a similar story but about the dangers of knitting: a former coworker of mine was knitting infront of the tv one day, and had put her knitting needles on the floor when she got up to go to the kitchen. What she didn't realize, though, was that one of the needles was leaning against something, therefore pointing up, and when she headed back to her seat, she had stepped right on the knitting needle, which went right through her foot.

Needless to say, that got a few stitches.

Ouch, ouch, ouch, you are hard core! When my partner did that he refused to sew for a month! ;) Then, we all know guys are wimps, huh?

I've sliced myself pretty good with rotary cutters before, and had endless cuts and burns in my glass studio, but never had such an accident sewing before! *Knocks on wood, going to sew in just a minute!*

mine looks fine now, like i had blood taken or something...

the knitting needle sounds horrible, i have known a few people to have nails go through teir feet.

the roatry cutters..... I am afriad of them hehehe

my husband has had incidents with straight razors cutting appliques out for me..

lol, yeah rotary cutters are dangerous! I can't get away from them, though, cuz once I get working I'm on a roll and they're so fast! The trick with them is to PAY ATTENTION and make sure your blade is really nice and sharp. Other than that it just takes a little practice to hold it just right so your hand doesn't slip.

A few months after I started blowing glass a piece I was holding snapped off and sliced through the tendon on the inside knuckle of my thumb. I still can't bend it all the way or apply pressure with it. Hasn't affected me too badly though, I mostly just can't light a lighter with it! (Which makes for interesting conversation anyway, since I always get asked why I light them with my index finger...)

I never actually cut myself with my rotary blade...but I have cut a few THINGS. When I first got the blade, me in all my supreme blondness didn't realize that I needed a cutting board on the bottom...my fabric was layed out on the floor and I sliced through the carpet and now there's a massive gouge.
Another time, I was on the floor yet again...this time with the board underneith and was sitting on all fours while cutting with the blade. I kept cutting until the blade was underneith me and I ended up slicing my pants open.
