Hippy is a state of mind and action. Manson may have been a hippy once, but he went very bad. Hippys are about good stuff, not killing people. Maybe he went completely insane? Trust funders? Money has nothing to do with it. How money affects you and what you do with it does.

    yeah, willie rocks!
There were some hippies living out here for awhile but they were all crackheads. Now in Boulder there were lots of hippies but they were such conformists, no individual thought, only hippie dogma.

    All hippies are lobsters.
    Not all lobsters are hippies.
    Lobsters don't taste like chicken.

    You derive a conclusion!

theres a Hippy Constitution, I suggest you get a hold of one (a quick Google search will do the trick for sure). It lists all the mains ideas and values that you MUST HAVE, to be a hippy. Any violation of these codes is considered a complete betrayal to the hippy way of life.

Hippies are part of a balanced equation.

Bourgeois on one side, hippies on the other.

Both are usually ineffective dead-end schools of thought by themselves.

Those people who play with bongos, and harass me in the streets to try and convert me to Harre Krishna...Goddamn bastards! They don't wash, either.

Boulder's pretty much put an end to the hippy crowd that used to come there.

Ok, here's one thing: I would've thought hippies wouldn't be so messy but where they camp it's nasty and they leave their garbage all over; more like punks than what I had envisioned hippies to be. I've traveled around and never had any problem staying clean and it's not "natural" to be dirty; even a dog wants to be clean, right?

Hey, but those things ain't hippys. They're fakes. Bums. A true hippy would not leave a mess, they would clean it up, plus more. I'd put an end to that too. Matter of fact, I have. Sick of cleaning up after the dready trailer trash... Those guys just don't get it...

Wow...You're really shallow enough to catogrize people by thier personal habits?

Those people who think think that we want to look at a picture, every time we come on the forum, of someone looking messed up, eyes rolling in their head, looking stupified and very unhippy, ...He don't wash, either.(Oh, I don't know about that, actually)

It is not being shallow to know and recognize the spirit behind a persons actions. A person who leaves a mess wherever they go really doesn't care about other people, or themselves. They are "fakes", and "bums" if they are dirty,, and are not conscious of themselves or their environment. There have always been those who have given "hippie" a bad name, but I guess it takes a hippie to know the difference.(I have ultra sensitive hippie radar). If I see a trashed scene, I know my real brothers and sisters were not responsible. A hippie, (an individual of higher consciousness) does all they can to make the world a better place.

Wow! You arrogant bastard! You REALLY consider yourself as an "individual of high consciousness"? That must be the biggest insult I've heard.

And catogrizing people by how they live thier life is extremely shallow. The mere fact you clean up after yourself at festivals has nothing to do with you being an "individual of high consciousness", even though I do clean up my own mess after festivals.

People like you give "Hippies" a bad name, because you look down on everyone that doesn't meet your own standards!

You're an insult to everyone who accepts people how they are, and make this world a truly better place.

Thank you, I could not have said it better myself. And I totally agree. I have spent my entire life taking up the slack for people who won't or can't take responsibility for their own stuff. Being trashy is not just a "hippy" thing by any means. I was a landlord for many years and I rented my places to all types. I've seen all manner of good folks who were responsible and cared about things, hippys or not, but they were in the minority by far. But higher conciousness type folks ARE in the minority, no matter where you go or how you want to catagorize them.

I have spent years living in "commune" style environments, and letting "hippys" camp here on the land I was blessed with. It is all well and good to be giving and open with what you have, but the end result has been one of ultimate burnout. All those folks who leave a mess, eat your food, use your stuff, and don't repay your kindness in SOME way, just end up making that much more work for me, costing me alot in grocery and phone bills, and eventually using everything up and lowering my usual standard of living, just to move on to someplace else where they can use. Pretty low conscious if you ask me.

Being as how a TRUE hippy does everything they can to help make the world a better place, we are doing nothing to help if we continue to allow these things to go on without at least putting it out there for people to hear and see. So we also need to be teachers, not only by example but by reminders. Because people who don't live in this conscious manner have blinders on and just don't get it.
