another question, i have a cable connection, yet everytime someone calls and my mum answers it kicks me off the whole time shes on the phone!

i am on a linksy router, wehre the original cable is downstairs, and i noticed the downloading up here on winmx hardly works for some reason, anyone know why this could be?

If youre phone lines are star wired (all coming out from a central point) then you'll need a microfilter on every phone socket, even if it's not in use.

Another problem might be if you're using one of the "easy home networking kits" that connects your computer to the host via phone lines...

"Monkey" is right. I'm on DSL. GET the filters, and it's WORTH the $4 a month for the Lineguard service. In many cities, a service call from your phone company can cost you $75 each!

I got a few filters in my home (mutiple access points) and they work great. I should add I am on dsl, but yeah I have never been disconected due to a phone call, here is what i got. There hella cheap considering what they do for you....
p.s. thought I should add that this will in no way interfere with your router it plugs into your phone jack, and then you just splice out of their on branch for the phone and one that goes to your modum/router... p3@c3

The confusing part of this thread is that the poster is haivng problems related to people using the phone while on a CABLE connection.....

Is your cable connection half duplex (e.g. you have a phone line in your router/modem for uploads?)
