Im going to put this whole 'tax dollars' to religious schools rumour to rest I hope... Our example is a typical Catholic High School here in Canada. (same principle applies USA and Britain) Understand that ALL citizens are paying a portion of taxes for public schools. Even if you have no children. We ALL pay a percent towards public education. Yes? Ok. The BEST news for you the taxpayer is when Saint Marys decided to PAY, out of their own pockets, for a School of their own. That saves us a bundle of tax cash alone! They MUST have all the qualifications and curriculum as any public school. So, The kids still must learn every single thing they would in the public school. BUT Its costing us about half the tax money for that Catholic school because ultimately all the Catholics are paying for alot of it. IN ADDITION to the taxes they ALSO must pay towards public education just like we do. Put in its most basic sense: You are paying LESS taxes and even then its for the 'public curriculum' aspect of it all. Just like you would if those kids went to the public school down the street.
Columbo quite true In 3 decades of dealing with humans on the question of belief. Many many religious people eventually admit they dont know. And many atheists as well. Occam proposes that 1/3 of all human beings are 'theists' 1/3 are agnostic of the 33% that remain 15% are atheist and the rest have.. 'no opinion' Thus in 2006 Theists are a minority. Yet they weild earthly power towards their faith out of all proportion to their numbers.. why? Because agnostics dont desire earthly power for their position. What say you? Occam
Id say you just made up the part about the desire for earthly power because it sounded like a 'good' thing to say. Otherwise, you dont even believe that yourself. Im right arent I?
Oh, you dont have to learn about reason from me. Just consider it a bonus for you if any of this does stick. Your choice.
