    Thursday--early A.M.

    Hey--

I got your e-mail at my yahoo addy, then I registered here. It took me a few minutes to find your thread, but I made it.

I tried to register under my name, but apparently there's another Dana. I'm using my most-oft used handle: "uptonight"-- I registered at many other sites that way, including the boring-as-hell My Space (a juvenile site, for sure-- ) but I like to keep my username from being co-opted. I'm registered in most places as uptonight, IMDb being one of the few places I'm not.

I Have been very busy, and for quite some time.

I may have mentioned to you (I honestly don't remember) that I buried my mother on Sept. 5th. She was the only member of my family that I talked to at all, an not that much, as we never got along.

Because my AWOL siblings wouldn't lift a finger, I took on the duty of burying her by myself, and winding up her affairs. I've got a home-full of clutter (family things I took from her apartment) that I'm trying to disburse. I sold off the stuff of value, easily-- her new car, and her giant TV went instantly. Other stuff I donated to charity. Family photos (several albums-full) I'm shipping off to a 2nd cousin whom I haven't seen in decades, but who writes to me via e-mail, and is the only decent relation I seem to have.

When I finally get my own apartment straightened out I'll feel a lot better. All the excess clutter is driving me crazy. I have a hard time getting at my VHS tapes and my DVDs because they're buried under stuff that's just gotta go.

The Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (which is now one of the world's largest, and the biggest one here, south of NYC) ran from Oct 5th through 15th. I was heavily involved, and was out at the 80-year-old restore atmospheric theatre where most of the festival took place, almost every night (and most days). It was fabulous, but it precluded all my usual activities, and I was rarely online, except for very brief moments.

Right now I'm watching my newly acquired Criterion Collection DVD of The Third Man, one of my top-ten films (It's just after 2AM here) and I'll be watching films and surfing the net 'til dawn. That's how I spend most nights--- the daylight freaks me, so I try to sleep through it.----

Anyway-- I'm sorry for the long silence, and I'll try to keep in touch more frequently.

Take care, and write as often as you like-- believe me, I'm not at all bothered, as you thought-- and I actually welcome the discourse.

    later,
    Dana
