so i've pretty much decided to go to beauty school mainly for hair design but for make up design too. can anyone tell me what its like? a girl i know told me it sucked and dropped out but she has no ambition so i don't believe her. any words?
everybody's different, so people are gonna have different opinions on it, but if beauty's something you really enjoy then go for it! it's unlikely that your interest will change because of it, and you're gonna learn a lot anyway. my friend went to beauty school for about a year i think, really really enjoyed it. she graduated at the end of last year and went on to get a job in a beauty spa...which she also really likes. i mean, she's gotta do waxes and all that stuff, and still likes it, so it can't be all that bad
I run a beauty school in the bronx section of new york city and I can tell you that the sky is the limit when it comes to the experience my graduates go on to have in this profession. Once you get your license you will need to work hard to develop your skills further, also making contacts is important if you want to get into the higher end clientel. Make a name for yourself with One or two celebrity clients and you can have your own product line. I am really proud of our graduates - many of whom come from humble backgrounds and are high school drop outs. At the very least Financial aid is available and with hard work our students are able to get solid job skills from us. If you need more help please call us, this is not a commercial I really care. Steve
By the way my school is www.americanbeautyschool.com if you are interested. I dont know how to edit the content from my message above. Thats why I went to Hair school not computer school.
hay, i studied beauty for a year and a half, worked in the industry for about a year. In australia it's different i think because over here beauty therapists do not handle hair. At the begining i loved it, made people feel good about themselves, build confidence ect. But in the end it was just too superficial for me (now days i rarely even wear makeup) So i just grew out of it. However if you love personal interaction with people and you dont mind some ewwww moments then go for it!
You can try speaking to the people who do make up or sell cosmetics in department stores. Many of them have been to some kind of beauty school. I'm sorry if this is very ignorant and I don't know the level of qualifications needed for any kind of beauty-job but I struck up a couple of interesting conversations just talking and asking questions while buying whatever over the counter. The two girls I spoke with were open about their experiences. One looked very haggard and like she wanted to move up in the industry and was tired of where she was at at the moment (department store).
